    Default Celtic Campaign Theme (music)

I find the Celtic theme playing on the campaign map very hollywood and enya-ish. Although it stereotypically reminds me of Celtic culture I feel like it lacks the realistic raw EB feel of other factions (I have no idea about it's historical accuracy I must admit but still).

Does it bother anyone other than me? How does the team feel about it?

I know where you're coming from. The harmonies are too full and modern for my taste, the sequences heavily stricted in T-D cadences etc. That being said, I can't imagine any shape or form of genuine "Celtic" music from back then.

Here's what Brennus one of our historians has to say on the matter.

Thank you for your comments. As you note the music which we employ for Europa Barbarorum II’s Celts lacks a certain degree of realism. This is for a variety of reasons. Firstly, the team has attempted to secure the rights to use the work of instrumentalists who perform using later Iron Age instruments, namely the carnyx. Unfortunately we have yet to have success in this respect. Some of the instruments typically considered to be Celtic, for example the fiddle and bagpipes, in fact post-date the EBII timeframe, and as such they are lacking. Finally, an additional problem is that the “barbarian” culture group spans an area from Ireland and Iberia to eastern Poland. As such there is a huge variety of instruments in use in this region during this period in time. Thus if we were to adhere very strongly to the archaeological record and only use instruments in use throughout this area, we would likely end up restricting ourselves to bone flutes and jaw harps. As the faction coordinator for the Celts I will admit I am not happy with the current arrangement, but unless we can get permission to use the works of composers like John Kenny (a carnyx specialist) or volunteers are forthcoming who are willing to compose new, more authentic music, we are stuck as we are.
A huge thank you must go to 0AD by the way, however, for sharing their music with us.

The 0 A.D songs which play for the celtic factions are quite bad IMO (great respect for the game though its great) so i've taken them out of EB 2, its quite easy really. (which i explained it here )

The 2 ones i didnt like were Celtica, and Celtic_Pride, both from 0 A.D for the celtic factions.

And not putting Healing of Froech on both summer and winter turns is an insult, the song is awesome!
Then, as throngs of his enemies bore down upon him and one of his followers said, "They are making at thee, O King," "Who else, pray," said Antigonus, "should be their mark? But Demetrius will come to my aid." This was his hope to the last, and to the last he kept watching eagerly for his son; then a whole cloud of javelins were let fly at him and he fell.

I guess it's the full harmonies which feel so modern to me.
Thanks z3n for bringing it to Brennus. I see that it's kind of like temporary music until something better comes along.

Thank you Wulfburk, didn't know about that thread. Was thinking of music from EBI myself and yeah, song is awesome!
