I seriously doubt that people even know themselves what they want from pikes and how it works on this engine.

Don't you enjoy people constantly demanding something they don't understand? I know you enjoy it KAM.

I also love how after all the massive changes and work put into 1.1, the one thread that keeps getting pounded is about a single unit type. People have no idea how hard it is to create a new, dynamic battle system and have it properly balanced with all the Rome 2 unit variation out there. And then there is the fact that battles are only a part of the game, pike battles being a very small sliver of that. The campaign changes alone would be enough to make 1.1 a massive effort, but adding in the battle systems its a truly massive update. Oh, and an entirely custom campaign that is basically a free DLC. But, nevermind that we need a continual stream of pike demands.

Sorry for the rant, just sort of sick of it. What company out there would have multiple fixes based directly on user feedback available immediately, much less offer a WIP running fix pack for the players? Oh wait, we aren't a company. We are a group of people who do our best to find time from our real lives to offer this for everyone. But, wait, THE PIKES!!!

Is cause this that IMHO you must follow your own path. Peopple always ask for changes. The mass never will be happy with the result...some tweak here...another tweak here...just do what you have into your mind....and finally sing with me... I DID IT MYYYYYY WAYYYYYYY¡¡¡

And starting next week you'll have one less person around to put effort into that work!

How will the mod team and player base EVER get along without me there to constantly say "Buff this Roman thing," "Edit that naval thing," Hey Dresden, Cretan archers."

    You and the Cretans! aaaaaarrrggggg

Sorry for that rant, its just dealing with feedback 24/7 it gets harder to ignore some of it. Most of it is very constructive criticism and brought forward respectfully. But, handling the Steam comment page and then seeing some stuff here got to me.

For example, someone posted on the Steam page they would rape me. Was one of the first comments I ever actually deleted from one of my mod pages and shocked some other Steam commenters (which, trust me, is hard to do). I don't think people realize that dealing with the online public on a regular basis is a very tiring process. I guess its human nature to focus on the negative after awhile, I just have to remind myself its a vast minority that leave that type of feedback. Sadly, those are the comments that you remember most of the time. Add to that this is supposed to be a fun hobby and it gets you down sometimes.

Your work is very much appreciated by the majority of users and community and you could be sure that the people who matter respect you...

I've been on the internet since it was a DOS based BBS, and you learn a lot about what people are really like, it used to really get to me, in the end I just had to accept that there are a lot of idiots out there, rude, entitled scumbags.
Don't let it get to you, these people obviously don't realise that you are also answering questions on the Attila forums and on the steam forums, and god know what others, just because they say it is doesn't mean that it is, you know deep down you have done your best, don't let the low life drag you down, keep your heads up.

You guys have, in your quest to bring back the great mods like EB & Roma Surectum to the Rome 2 engine, have surpassed them, and it is my belief that in years to come, other modding teams will try and live up to the standards you guys have set.

So you are to thank for this? I'll say! If I'd lose my Cretan archers… if I'd lose…

This can only mean one thing. You may never leave.

Yes, of course. I just had to vent after the week of random rudeness that always accompanies a large and popular release. The 1% of jackasses always ruin it for everyone

I should have saved some of the worst comments I have gotten on my various mod pages over the past 2 years. You would not believe what internet anonymity seems to bring out of people.

    Dear Dresden and Co.,

I rarely post, because I'm one of those people, but I've loved these games and the mods that come with them (or fix them, as some would argue), since Shogun 1. The work you guys have put into this particular mod is staggering, and is in the top of the pantheon of great mods for a Total War game. I just wanted to say thank you, and to hell with those whelps who, with full bellies, have the nerve to bite at the tit that feeds them!

I hope you feel that it is worth the effort, and appreciated, because it really is appreciated. So keep it up. Thanks.

Dresden, I am one of many I'm sure that gratefully but silently have enjoyed your work and the effort of the entire mod team. Your comments make me realize my silence can make that ugly "1%" seem like a larger fraction than they really are. So here's my thanks - a huge shout-out to all of you for your work. Sure, I'm struggling to learn how to manage supply trains, etc, but that is the fun of the game. I just wish there was a better way to express my appreciation. Thank you!!!

BTW, I've always observed in life that the ones that aren't helping to row the boat, sadly are the ones who have all the time and energy to rock it. Don't let them get to you!

It means you need to make sure the steam mod manager loads it properly.

Rename the pack, and do nothing but add about five "@" to the start of the name of the file. Then make sure it is ticked in the mod manager before you launch the game.

You don't necessarily have to. But that would make 10 @ signs, and you'd be hard pressed to ever have something load before ten of those.

Unfortunately you can never be too careful with the lackluster mod manager CA gave us when breaking mitch's mod manager.

Thanks again. Is there a way you can tell if it has loaded properly

Sometimes I wonder why we even bother having KAM on the team? If he after that many releases cant even balance pikes? I mean, they arent realistically portrated in the game. Units walking past the pikes?! And pikes not having that lawn mower effect of Rome 1? Wtf dude
God I love you KAM. Though Im reluctant to admit it

EDIT: @Dresden , if you watch South Park, then watch the newest episode "Safe space". You need a person to read through and filter out all the bad comments for you

Pls halp. Have to use other units and think on how to win battles. 20 Pikes in army don't give me 100% auto resolve chance. Pikes broken, pls fix asap!?!!?!?!?!?!?
    /s

More serious note - as someone who has played this mod since literally its first release and outside of a brief break between 1.0 and 1.05 has been playing it consistently since the beginning- you guys have done a fantastic job. Still hard to believe it's not a full time gig for you guys doing this work. This mod is the only reason why I have several hundred hours put into RTW2 instead of the 10 or so vanilla would have granted me.

Again, keep up the great work! And pls team, make Dresden happy and finally fix the broken pikes so he doesn't have to make alt accounts to complain in his own threads about pikes :p

Hey guys - thanks for the kind words. I honestly didn't post that to elicit sympathy or anything. It was just a rant!
