You can open it with PFM.

BUT... you don't need to open it to play it. Just save it to your data folder, check it in the game launcher, and play the game.

Updated fix, hopefully to address the crash issue.

To use the fix, simply download it and put it in your data folder. Then check it green in the mod manager. Load it before the main mod.

As it says in the main post, this will be added to the main release version eventually.

At the risk of echoing a previous post I was wondering when this would be incorporated into a Steam update for those of us stuck with Steam?

You're not stuck with steam, you can simple download the file and put it in the data folder under SteamApps. Really easy. Thefile will then appear in Steam mod section, green tick it and you're away

Hmmm ... yes, that would seem to be too easy as it was the first thing I tried.

The fix doesn't show up as a mod in my list though.

All fixes are listed in the update notes. I don't remember which ones specifically for this latest one. One of them is that minor temple recruitment suggestion you made.

So this fix seems to have sort of let me start the grand campaign, 2 out of 3 attempts started as Egypt. So good news...

Before I installed this I didn't have any crashes with DeI 1.1 Since installing this I had 1 crash during the end turn. So far it hasn't repeated itself, so could just be a coincidence. Submods: slower battles & reduced movement range for armies (plus double time for navies)
