Default I hope this is ok to post here...

I post here because this forum seems pretty active and I really like the DEI mod. The mod works great, but I have noticed an error on the Wrath of Sparta DLC.

I only noticed it after the latest update (1.1), but it seems to have little to do with the mod.

I have not played WOS in months but wanted to check out the Macedonian Wars.
I can open the window and pick the faction that I want to play, but the campaign never gets through the loading screen.
I tried deleting (unsubscribing on steam) all the DEI mods, but still no dice. I can't get the vanilla WOS to load either.
I re-verified the cache and it keeps saying 1 item had to to be re-acquired. I have tried it three times and always the same thing.
I deleted the entire game and did a complete re-install. Still a no go. With no mods I still can't open the WOS campaign. All other DLCs are working still.
I have tried uninstalling the DLC and installing it with no luck.

2 things stood out: the 1 file that has to be reacquired and when I launch the game the first time, every time I sign in, the launcher crashes. Then I open it again and everything works great. While in game, it runs flawlessly on the highest settings.

This is truly a great mod and I am loving the supply lines, AOR recruitment, and unit limits. Very realistic. Thank you for all your work

Can anyone help in this issue? A complete uninstall and reinstall should be the fix all right? It was the final option, because I thought it would have taken forever to reinstall.

Thanks to all in advance. I am open to all ideas.

Is the WoS DLC checked as active when you look at your DLC list (right click rome 2 in library - Properties I think).

Yes Sir. It is checked and "installed." I have unchecked it a couple of times and checked it again to reinstall.

Thank you Dresden for the response. Any other ideas? Love this mod!

If WoS isn't working in vanilla, its definitely something wrong with the install.

I agree that it seems to be a vanilla problem. None of the mods are installed. But isn't it odd that after a clean reinstall, that the same exact problem is happening? The launcher initial crash and the WOS problem. What else could be causing an issue that a fresh install wouldn't fix? Some folders that might have old files that are conflicting or something?

Thanks again Dresden. Your the best.

Maybe... its always a good idea to use a program like CCleaner after deinstallation to make sure literally everything is deleted from your HD before reinstallation. Otherwise older reg entries might be used and stuff like that...

I have re-uninstalled and downloaded CCleaner. How do I make it identify and more Rome 2 items?

Usually it identifies any unused items by itself...

Also do a reg check and clean your registration!

I don't promise anything but usually it helps!

Make sure to save any changes in registration but it asks you to anyway before cleaning so all should be good!

Did the Clean and the Reg Check.
Lots of stuff. Hope it helped. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Going to reinstall now. Thanks.

I have had this exact problem for about a month, completely reinstalled it remains.
Here is me and someone else who has the same problem on tw official forums. I have tried and failed with the lobotomy, haven't looked in the moddified diag but since someone else is also having the problem the reason is probably different.

    Np, hope it helps too!

    Good luck!

    EDIT:

There is a new feature in Ccleaner that is monitornig your system. I recommend deactivating it since it seems to take more ressources than its saving. Go to options and deactivate it. Otherwise you'll have another process running in the background all the time.
Otherwise I recommend doing a clean up using CCleaner every now and then it can significantly speed up your system!

    Thanks Hopiltus!

Alright I'm reinstalled. Loaded a game in Grand Campaign, Imper Augustus, Caesar in Gaul, Hannibal at the Gates again. WOS still gets stuck.

On to the next idea if anyone has one? Thanks again to all.

EDIT: Could it be a driver issue? Could a driver cause one DLC to load and another to not load? I have NVidia Driver 337.50

Re-verified the cache. Still has 1 file that has to be reacquired. After the verification, I had the launcher crash the first time. I remember last month i had a bad driver and had to get an older one just to get the game to load at all.

You could verify the cache a thousand times and it will always download that 1 file.

When you did the reinstall, did you remove "The Creative Assembly" folder in the user/"username"/appdata/roaming before you reinstalled the game?

I deleted the Rome2 Folder. I didn't touch Empire or Napoleon, though I don't play them.

Would deleting the whole Creative Assembly Folder make a difference?

Thank you very much for the response. Look forward to hearing the next. Thanks

THAT would have been my first tip. Go to your data folder and delete all mod files. Leftover modfiles (which stay there after a deinstallation!) are the most common bug source.

both of us seem not only to play with mods (dei) but also both mod the game so I actualy think that could have something to do with it. Also do you have Attila? The packfilemamager can't always distinguish between them, it saves attila mods in rome II data folder and so on. Maybe it has somehow made the dlc files go in Attila or load for attila for wos?
