Default Not all region bonuses/penalties visible?

I seem to have encountered a little issue with DeI 1.1.

Every province has effects listed in the bottom-left (season effects, edicts, public order, wonders) which in DeI 1.1 includes regional info such as base tax/farming/trade bonuses etc.

Unfortunately it seems that in my game it only lists 3 out of the 4 regions. In my Roman campaign the province of Italia lacks any region info for Latium (Roma) and the province of Magna Graecia lacks info on the Lilybaum settlement.

Is this a known issue? Is this working as intended?

There's a hardcoded cap of 5-6 effects (iirc) that can be shown in that box. Chances are that you hit that cap and it won't show more.

Ah, that's unfortunate. Public order, Season effect and Edict is half the hard-coded cap already.

Then add in a wonder in a four-region province. Love the idea, pity it's impossible to see and use.

Any chance the information could be added as mouse-over pop-ups on the bars with the region names? Just a wild shot in the dark.

I was actually thinking of possible solutions to this dilemma while stuck in traffic omw home from work (yes, i probably need professional help).

I think it would be a good compromise to give the provincial capitals unique province-wide bonuses, but not the smaller regions. That means you only get 1 icon you need to look at.

Unfortunately its a hardcoded UI issue. Nothing that can really be done about it.

We could collapse the bonuses to the province capital, but that would sort of destroy the idea of the unique region bonuses. It would also cause a lot less interesting variation and wouldn't allow places like ports, historically well-known regions, and other locations to have their proper bonuses.

@Dresden, yeah i understand you guys can not change the UI in that corner. A damn shame but your hands are tied there. And i suppose a adviser pop-up when you select a settlement would require tons of coding? Would that even work? The message box could then give short, concise info on that region's base bonuses/penalties. That way the limited province effects UI will be restricted to the vanilla province wide effects while the pop-up will tell the player of that region's specifics. Of course that message box is already used for giving historical info (cool feature btw), but that's only the first time you click on a city.

Just thinking out loud here. I'm sorry if the DeI team has already thought about all options regarding this.

Can the region bonuses be viewed in a file somewhere? Easy or insane time-drain to output a document?

I doubt anyone dislikes the extra flavor and layer of complexity for the min-max players, just a crying shame to have the concept hamstrung by the evil ui.

As much as I hate to say this, this issue really kills the whole system for me. I absolutely love the idea, but if you can't see the effects before making a building then the whole thing falls apart. Say a region has -20% industry for example. If the display cap prevents you from seeing that then you won't find out until you look at the income breakdown after you've already wasted 4-6 turns making an industrial building. I've been resorting to making saves, clearing out all agent and edict effects just to see the region effects, then reloading. It WORKS, but it's a rather tedious process. It really is tragic seeing such a fun idea killed by hard-coded limitations.

You can see it, you just have to make sure you don't have too many other effects. For example, undeploy an agent to see the region you may be missing.

Yeah, I mentioned that as a workaround I've been using. It's just that edicts take a turn to expire and agents can't be re-deployed in the same turn, so I've had to save every time I want to check overflow effects and then reload to avoid completely wasting a turn. Like I said, it does work but it's a rather tedious process. I know you can't do anything about it though, so none of this is directed at anyone working on this fantastic mod. Just me rambling about an unfortunate situation.

Yeah and I agree its frustrating. My hope is that as players get used to their factions, they will learn the areas and what effects various regions have. At some point I can make a guide with the effects.
