Default Macedonian Wars - Macedon Units

Are the Macedonians supposed to have access to Thracian units and some Seleucid units through their native barracks? If so, cool! The Thracians made sense due to Philip's settlements of Thracians. The Seleucid cavalry was a bit more of a surprise when I came across it. Not entirely sure why they get the Hippeis Agematos.......

Also, I'm not sure if anyone else is having this issue, but the Romans in my game are not doing terribly well. After I killed the first big army they had running around, they haven't produced anything bigger than an 7 unit stack. Epirus is just bullying them around. Is that it for them, or is a script going to trigger and something........horrible......will sail across the Adriatic?

Make no mistake, the Macedonian Wars campaign is quite fun. Excellent work all around.

Yes, Macedon has some extra units to reflect the fact that they had alliances and client states that contributed to their forces.

We were going to have army spawn scripts for the campaign, I can't remember if that got finished or not before release. But it is in the plans to have that, so Rome will be more of a force. Although, while Rome should be aggressive, the wars were also about a conglomeration of factions.

Cool. I'm really enjoying have the Thrakioi Pezoi - they're a great flank assault unit and nice historical flavor.

Ahhh, that makes sense. No worries. There is a lot of really interesting combat between the rest of the alliances - Achaea fighting Sparta and Athens all over the place (they're the real MVPs in my game - I don't even worry about southern Hellas), Ptolemy, Rhodes, and Pergamum pushing back and forth with the Seleucids. Very good first impression of a well-balanced set of alliances. No need to rush the Roman fix - my Macedonian army is enjoying its free rein to crush Aetolia.

Side note, that one Roman army actually slowly Fort-walked its way through Aetolia to confront my royal army - I had to do a strategic withdrawal to separate it from the local Aetolians so that I could face it on equal terms. Nice element to the campaign.

No I was not able to finish this in time, but I can now focus on doing the roman AI reinforcement scripts boss.

+1 to the Romans in my MW campaign then. After a while they subdued Epirus and started making considerable inroads into Macedonian territory which made me think they had received off-map reinforcements.

Playing as Rome on the Macedonian Wars campaign, and it makes Vanilla Epirus look much easier. It has taken three tries and on turn 29 and I have reached the last Epirote settlement after facing about 7 rebellions (and the boring ones not the fun AE ones), 2 Archean League, I believe it is called, full stacks, a Messene stack that I barely dispatched after exhausting all of the Illyrian naval mercenaries, a stack of Pikemen and Corinthian Thureos spears that was killed in an ambush. I am now praying that Macedon doesn;t march anything through the northern mountains for now until I can stabilize enough to afford more than 26 land units and a 5 unit navy.
Aside from the brutal difficulty the campaign has been great, I had to fight almost every battle which made myself better with the mechanics of the new fighting style, I now have to build depots instead a gladiator arenas which makes my building choice much more important, in one of my attempts I got to use gladiators in a garrison and they looked cool but their coolness did not help them survive the mercenary veteran hoplites that Epirus managed to get loads of, I am looking forward to Rome getting buffed as they have to fight pretty hard for the dominant power of the Mediterranean against a few leagues and the two weakest successor states although that may have been due to myself not knowing that foreign armies cannot be allowed on your land or your men will starve for the first two tries.

Honestly this is one of the more difficult campaigns. Mainly because we made it ourselves
