ok I really want to get started the the Denmark campaign ( since I am danish ) but the russian / borat accent is killing me. Is there any way to replace it with england for instance, or nothing at all ?

You are not the only one that finds it irritating to say it mildly :/
I tried playing a Danish campaign, but that slavic accent ruined the immersion for me![]()
I think I`ll play a Scottish campaign instead, I just love the accent and some of the character`s lines are hilarious. The French and German accent are also cool.
It's only Slavic some of the time I've noticed. On the battle map it seems to be always a plausible Danish voice, and on the campaign map, it is sometimes there.
Hello
I know this a bit off topic, but I figured this was the appropriat thread, since it concerns Danes and the...well..lack of authenticity.
My problem is the Danish coat of arms. Being from Denmark myself it annoys me that the arms is'nt even near being authentic.
I'm talking about that silly bird thing, that prouds the Danish banners etc.
Even on "global" Wikipedia, the true Danish coat of arms is shown, with history and all that ****
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_Denmark
I'm aware of the fact that Denmark is a tiny country, but never the less the arms should be - if not the orginal, then close to the - original.
But a bird?! I've found proof what so ever that a bird should ever have decorated the Danish coat of arms; and I think that my link to Wikipedia proofs that fact...
Additionally, I'm aware of the fact that the Danish arms resembles the English arms; but it should'nt be too hard finding a solution which is better than this bird thing![]()

P.S Do nor regard this "reply" as a nationalistic message of any kind.

ya, i hate that accent...but if they would talk with a real danish voice, no one would understand what they were saying![]()
Dragonsworn
Things will not calm down, Daniel Jackson. They will in fact calm up
The raven is meant to represent the Viking age banner I believe. Somehow it doesn't seem appropriate anymore in 1080+ though...
The slavic accent might be a bug. Generals/Agents/Battle speech seems to be more like Danish, but on the campaign map units will speak like they are from about 2000 miles to the east![]()
Under the patronage of lawngnome. Patron of lawngnome.
I figured it was something like that; though, as you say, it does not justify anything. Besides I'm quite sure no records of vikings carrying banners or flags - and certainly not with pidgeons/ravens/whatever - exist. The raven is meant to represent the Viking age banner I believe. Somehow it doesn't seem appropriate anymore in 1080+ though...
As you might know vikings only united under one banner when raiding forreign countries, fx England, Russia etc. When at home they were simple farmers.
The whole idea of a bird is silly, thus my "intervention"![]()
I simply fail to see the point.
The Danish coat of arms you display is equally inaccurate as it is from the 12th century. There is also record of Danish warriors (not sure if they were vikings or an invasion, not all warriors coming from Scandinavia were vikings) rallying under the raven banner while campaigning in England.
“The nation that will insist upon drawing a broad line of demarcation between the fighting man and the thinking man is liable to find its fighting done by fools and its thinking by cowards.”
—Sir William Francis Butler
The vikings carried banners to the battlefield and the standard bearer was always one of the King/general`s most trusted men. If he fell it was a huge blow to morale. The vikings were not just farmers at home. There were always noblemen challenging the king for power. The sagas describe all this in detail.
