Default On screen warning CPU not fast enough.

My CPU is a single core AMD64@2.8Ghz(approax 4.0Ghz Intel) 1MB cache.

Durring a battle with about 4,500 troops(huge settings) a warning came up say my CPU wasn't up to the AI's 2nd army coming on as reinforcements, and that I should upgrade my CPU or turn down some options. They didn't start to come on until some of their 1st army were dead or routed.

A little later on in the same campaign, I was besieged by 2 Mongal armies who attacked at the same time, meaning my PC had a city and 2.75 armies to contend with, and it ran fine. So why the earlier warning and the games refusal to bring on the 3rd army, unless their was a slight difference in the total troops, because in the city battle my army was only at 75% full strengh?

Why was this thread moved it, isn't really a Technical Help, point, more of a bug I think???

Anyway is there a way to have unlimited men on the battlefield? would this override the problem?
In RTW you could have unlimited men on the battlefield in Pref.txt, but I didn't see the same option listed in MTW2's Pref.txt!

Ah I see a thread on this subject already exists, under the heading 'Worst thing I've ever see in a totalwar game', perphaps the threads can be merged??

Yeah, mine got moved here also.

Do you have Rome installed? Anyone? If so what is the exact command in the pref's, maybe we can try and see the if just adding the command into the prefs will work.

    I have the same problem with an E6600 @ 3.0Ghz (OC) and a 7900GTO oc'ed to 7900GTX.

When you set up a custom battle you get a warning around 4200 men saying it might slow down, i think that if you pass 4200 men in a campaign battle it will leave some armies out to bring the number below 4200.

Its stupid because i can play larger battles, i tried 15,000 men at it stuttered quite a bit, but it was still playable.

Also, turning down the graphic details has no impact.

There must be a setting for this somewhere!
