Default Total war Atilla total conversion mod

Dresden I was wondering if you thought about converting Atilla into that of Rome 2? I can't play any of these games without your mod now everything else just makes it arcady and what not. I realize that something on this scope is massive. Just every faction that would be needed but I still wonder if this idea has been mused...

Dresden is part of the "Fall of The Eagles" mod for Attila. It isn't to the same level of immersion as DEI, but their are submods that go along with it to do things like slow battles down. If you haven't tried it, FOTE is a pretty good mod. Other than that the DEI team seems to be focused on improving this current mod using the Rome 2 engine out to at least 1.2.

Attila is not out main priority and most of the team is working on individual projects on Attila not related to each other. I dont think there will ever be a DeI for Attila. AE will have some aspects from DeI for Attila

As Flash said, it isn't a priority for us at the moment but it is a very common question. I realize there are a few campaign mechanics and other interesting things in Attila that are quite cool, but I actually feel that Rome 2 itself fits the ancient time period very well in terms of gameplay mechanics and overall ambience.

That being said, there is the Ancient Empires mod being worked on that will bring that ancient time frame to Attila. They will be using some of our assets for that mod as well, but they are a separate team.

It would be foolish to say DeI will never do anything in Attila, but for the moment that simply isn't on the radar. We still have plans to improve our Rome 2 mod for 1.2. Starting from scratch in Attila, even though we have some assets completed, would mean another couple of years of work. Who knows, maybe one day

I think he means a total overhaul of Attilas time period, not changing it.

Attila has also I think a bit diffirent combat mechanics. The combat and formations look slightly diffirent, it's as if they had more "physics" about them, though ofcourse there are none. And the pikes in Attila also act more impressive, they hold the enemies at distance better and still lose decisively to superior tier units. Just it doesn't look as ugly as in Rome 2, where the enemy marches through the pikes and picks up a brawl.

But then again. A known tactic versus pikes was to crouch under the pikes and stab the enemy from below. So actually some of the "marching through the pikes" is somewhat realistic

Pikes work much, much better in Rome 2. You can make them hold enemy just like in Attila if you give enough weapon reach. But the biggest advantage over Attila in case of pikes is that in Rome 2 they hold line, while in Attila it is ONLY formation in the game that streaches into ridiculos wavy shapes and completly breaks formation.

I see Kam. But in the new battle overhaul I've noticed that units get through pikes much faster. Like, just after the charge they get into sword fight animations. Isn't there any way to balance it out so that it looks better without being overpowered? Maybe lower attack or something, so that the pushes aren't fatal? Or am I mistaken about the video at all and it works diffirent in the game?

It was a bit changed later on and it also depends on pike quality.

Okay, thanks! I hope it will look better now. Cos there's nothing more epic than a wave of infantry being stopped at bay by the line of pikes, with a few exceptions along the front.
