With my Egypt campaign, the Mongols were a huge shock and they destroyed stack after stack I sent at them because of their sheer numbers.
I managed to repel them however, and drove them northward/Eastward to Eastern Europe so they can ravage the Byzantines, Hungarians, Polish, and Russians instead![]()
By the time the Timurids have arrived, I had most of North Africa, the Holy Lands, and Asia Minor in control but I didn't expect a thread from the east to arise again, so my garrisons were destroyed. By the time my main army arrived to face them, I had better troops like Mamluk guards and I had cannon to match their Elephants. Took care of them easy and drove them eastwards so they and the Mongols can fight an endless war in the east...
So which invasion gave you a harder time, the Mongols or the Timurids? (I found that the mongols vastly outnumbered the Timurid invasion)
