Can't do battles...help please!

I have had the game for about a week now, and have had no trouble playing campaigns in map mode. However, whenever I try to command a battle it goes to the loading screen and the bar goes all the way to full, but then the screen just turns black. I have an external DVD drive which may be the problem, but im not sure. If you have any information that could aid my dilema please let me know!

Also, warning pops up that says "ati2dvag display driver has stopped working normally"

from the message it seems like grahpic driver problems
update ur drivers.an dlower the battle map video settings

Thanks for the welcome, as soon as I can get into battles I'll be posting some AAR's

Specifications: 2.8Ghz Pentium 4, 1 GB Ram, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB, 160Gig hard drive.

Ati Radeon 9800 Pro
1gb RAM
80 gig hd

and I was having the same exact problem you have. I went to the ATI webpage and downloaded the newest drivers and now it works. I get a lot of lag in my battles though. Let me know if this doesn't work and I might be able to give you other tips.

Yeah, that fixed it. I followed the cleanup and optimization directions though posted as a sticky in this section and it runs beautifully. I highly reccomend it for increased performance. It took me about an hour to do but was well worth it.

I got that one too. It's fixed with new drivers, but there's a lag, especially in bigger battles.
