DeI Crash during Splash Screen

My Rome II works fine without DeI but when I activate it crashes during the splash screen (steam user)
Solutions I've tried:
1)deleting the the file of rome II in creative assembly in appdata
2)checking if there's any other mods
3)using the twc download
4)deleting and downloading again
5)reinstalling the game

Hmm. And I guess you also have both parts of the mod.
Have you tried to verify the cache files?

Crash at loading is either a bad install (reverify your game cache) or a mod conflict. Check your data folder for old mods, even if not activated in Mod Manager they can still load.

how big are all of the files suppose to be in the steam version mine is 1.70GB

I dont think I subscribed to any other mods I have tried this mod before but ever since I updated it it won't work

The TW files have a total size of approx 1.7 gB.
If you are sure that you have the latest build (patch 17), all the parts of the mod, NO other mods in your data folder AT ALL and have verified cache files. Im not able to help you any further as these steps, and I clearly have to say usually as it doesnt seem to help you, usually fixes these kind of problems.

My game also fails, but never even makes it to the splash screen. There seems to be an issue the moment I went offline with steam -- DEI no longer responds. The launcher thinks it's out of date and then the more obvious issue is eventually no mods appear at all until I go back online with it.

Seriously though, then it spent some enormous amount of my time crashing (50% followed by steam itself), but when it finally decided to work, it updated all the DEI packs. When done, i launched without issue and promptly tried out the Imperator campaign.

Is there a launcher for the mod that avoids steam entirely that everyone else uses?

Ok for the the TWC version when I don't include part 1 but when I include part 1 it crashes could this mean anyhting?

Something is conflicting with part 1?
Are you completely sure that you dont have anything in the data folder. Perhaps deleting these files and then verifying your game files in steam to restore them. And then re-downloading DeI
