    Default La Papessa

    http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/3...alepoperf1.jpg

If there's one thing I've learned I'm good at in M2TW, it's rigging elections and getting the pope to adore my faction.

Any other silly elections, appointments, or adoptions you guys wish to share? Hilarious traits or retainers maybe? Or maybe something ironic?

ROFLMAO "Secretly Female" THAT IS THE FUNNIEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN.

P.S. How do you go about rigging your elections? I just took my assassins to town with the other top Cardinals.

    Inn-1500
    5 Assassins-2500
    3 dead enemy~faction cardinals- Priceless

Well, it's not so much 'rigging' as 'doing it the hard way.'

    1) Use female priest to burn heretics like it's going out of style
    2) Nurture her into a cardinal (eliminate others)
    3) ???
    4) Profit!

Seriously though, this was a long work in progress. The second I found a 'secretly female' priest, I set out to make her a cardinal. However, the current pope was super young and lived for almost 20 turns it seems. By the time he died and elections came up, I of course voted in my English cardinal (I had four of course, so I almost forgot about Madam Cardinal).

I then spent a good five minutes laughing as that scroll popped up and I saw 'secretly female' as the second trait.

    meet pope lanfrancus

he decided to help hungary defeat most of my navy, then sent his crusading army to try to beat me at palermo. I defeatd his 4 stacks and attacked Rome. these are the results:

    I have an alternative solution:

    1) Capture Rome
    2) Kill Pope
    3) Kill any Pope that happens to spawn in Rome and isn't yours.
    4) ???
    5) Profit!

Be warned, one does not simply MARCH one's way into Rome... be sure you're strong enough militarily to fight off every other catholic faction not strongly allied to you.

Ransoming popes is also a good way to make quick cash, usually like 13 grand the papal states don't even blink before parting with. More than once I have to good fortune to capture a pope in battle, only to ransom him, chase him down, and kill him good.

Or 7chan, it's mostly the same stuff. Except 7chan is NSFW in any form. Stay away if you're fragile.

Well, 7chan sections off the definately NSFW section, so it's not all bad. /cat/ NSFW? lol...

    Now 4chan... that's another story.

Endeav: 37? That's the youngest pope I've seen I think. All the ones elected in my campaigns are old geezers (of course, I never even try to assassinate the Pope, since I find that he's much more useful alive and on my side than against me or dead).

It's a shame though.. my lady pope died 4 turns later from old age.

Oh well, I got another English pope elected anyway. Now I got HRE, Sicily, AND Denmark excommunicated. As far as I see it, only Poland and I are last remaining 'Catholic' nations, lol. I guess it's time I got them excommunicated too, but right after my crusade against Palermo is over.

    Message to all users:
If you wish to post a pic could you please resize it to 640x480,
    or use a thumbnail link,
this stops the page from stretching,
which i think we can all agree is a pain.

    Thank you.

Lavastein, you are truely a man after my own heart.

I just wish the other factions would quit getting cardinals elected. I am at war with the better half of europe, and right now with all my own cardinals dead the best I can hope for is a friendly cardinal to be elected.

In the mean time I am making a killing off those ransoms, so to speak.

Did protestantism ever make it into the game? Excommunication penalties are killing my tax revenues.

My cardinal did infact, die of old age waiting for me to kill off the opposition.

How old do priest characters start off? I mean if you have a good enough church you can build a priest who starts off as a cardinal so that's probably the best way to go about it. Have the longest reign possible and such. Mindu knowing me I would have him/her elected... and then try to capture it for ransom anyway! It's 13k easy money once you control the entire italian mainland.

I was excommunicated and at war with the papacy for the better part of 100 years (50 turns). The pope at the time didn't like my futile assassination attempts so excommunicated me and declared war. Well, being the good christian I decided not to attack italy and opted to get back in favor with the pope by making one of my cardinals the pope. Took 50 turns, a lot of assassins, and 3 assassins with 9 subterfuge outside room another 5 turns of assassinating popes to put this guy in:

He became the pope when he was 24. He's gonna have the longest reign ever

Assassins are completely useless. They're expensive, they die ALL THE TIME, and most of all, I can't be bothered micromanaging agents. What you need is a more powerful, expensive assassin unit. And what the hell happened to merchant monopolies? Those guys aren't work crap! You just dump them on a resource and make like 50 florins max a turn! What's with that!?!

PS. Since the pope was already at war with you, a border raid to pop the Pope's head on the end of a pointy stick, pike, lance or otherwise wouldn't have made much of a difference in the long run.

Assassins out of a guild HQ start with 4-5 points, kill a couple captains and it isn't hard to get a 8-9 point assassin. I didn't want to invade the papacy because that would've meant sending troops from angers to the papacy when I was caught up in a crusade, and eventually I just stuck to assassins, was having a fun time watching the assassin videos Eventually I killed off 6 popes and now I dominate the college with that young pope in place, so it all worked out.
