Icon5 Third Age Total war error "Unspecified error and will now exit"

This is my very first time commenting and creating a thread, but i am looking for help to a problem i am unable to fix. I have Third Age Total War installed and i checked the latest patch of everything i am suppose to according to other people on this site. The problem is that every time i launch said game, it acts as if it is going to start but then it goes black and then the error message pops up. Now i have windows vista on my computer, i have installed both medieval total war games, and made sure that everything was installed in the right file path. I have tried other solutions like the "Day light savings clock method" and as far as deleting files that were on YouTube or other forums. I feel like this is a simple thing i have to do, and keep in mind it is when i try to launch the game, not during a battle or any action. If i can get a rapid response, i will be grateful

    1) Is your M2TW a Steam version, or non Steam version?

    2) What files did you delete as seen on Youtube or other forums?

    3) You have installed TATW 3.0 both parts, and TATW 3.2 Patch?

Hi, I have the same problem described here.
    - I'm using STEAM version
    - I installed "TATW_3.0_Part1of2 (1)", then "TATW_3.0_Part1of2 (2)" and then "TATW_3.2_Patch"
    - As explained in several locations, I changed the original name to one of the existing (I tried "crusades" and some others)
    - When I start the "crusades" game from steam, the game starts (I see main screen and the ring turning) but after a few seconds I get the mentioned message (unspected error. Now exiting)
    - I tried several times: first time I didn't delete any file; later on I deleted some files as told in some forums (I don't remember now where)
    - I installed again TATW from the beginning --> same thing
    - Using Windows 10
    - All the other Medieval 2 campaigns work fine; only TATW is not working
    - HINT: maybe it has something to do with SCREEN RESOLUTION? I see that my screen changes form one resolution to another just before the message...

    Anybody can please help????

Take ownership of your main Medieval II Total War folder ( link on how to do it in Win 10)

Uninstall TATW ( just delete the folder where your TATW files are installed, since you said it is in crusades folder, delete the crusades folder). Now, run TATW .exe Installers again ( destination folder for all Installers is your steam/.../Medieval II Total War, so not steam/.../Medieval II Total War/mods nor anything else). And then rename Third_Age_3 folder as crusades, go to your Steam and run crusades campaign, or in this case, TATW 3.2.

    Good luck!
