Spy opened the gate and I killed the prince.


Killed the king who besieged my port. Honestly, I don't know why my army could assist in this battle.

Well you schooled me there! I never expected to die so quickly, fighting the A.I for years is no training for a hotseat. You could continue alone and conquer the rebels and get an official win but that's not necessary if you dont want to.

As for the reinforcements, William was able to assist because, while most battles take place where the defenders tile is, sally battles take place on the cities tile even though the army in the city is technically the attacker. I guess this is because in theory the attacker is just trying to drive away the defenders, not take any ground. This is significant because in all battles the only armies that can reinforce are those that are on one of the eight tiles adjacent to the tile where the battle takes place. If you had been doing a field attack, William would not have been able to reinforce because he was not adjacent to my army, if you had been fighting a field defense though it would have been the same. The A.I. doesnt understand the distinction, which made my exploit possible as you may remember.
