Default As Romans how do I assign colonists?

Every 4 turns I get a message saying that I have 1 colonist. How do I make a new colony or add to an existing one?

    thankyou.

You can build a roman military colony in one of these seven cities: Arretium, Ariminun, Rome, Capua, Arpi, Tarentum, Reggio (basically alla of italian cities expect those in sicily, sardinia and north italy). Pay attention that in Rome you cannot build a roman military colony because there a "Municipia et civitas populi romani" is already present (I assume that if you destroy the "Municipia et civitas populi romani", you could build a military colony.

The roman military colony has 3 level of building: Lex de Colonia Creando, Colonia Latina Minora, Colonia Latina Maiora. Do not queue and unqueue the building (for example because you change idea in what city you want to build a colonia) or the colony will be lost forever!

If you destroy the municip in Roma, you lose the ability to send colonists out altogether; that's where they are coming from.

Does it work the same way as for Carthage - if you play SPQR and lose Rome before having built another Municipia, you'll never again be able to build another Municipia and send out colonists?

Actually, I was wrong before; the Roman colony system is just a turns-based counter. Whereas the Carthaginian one works just like the Hellenistic ones, except it counts carthage_council buildings (Kart-Hadast is the only one at the start).

There's no need to build a military colony in Rome since you already have all the recruitment necessary.
This mechanic is used to add factional recruitment in the other regions of Italy.

It keeps reminding you since you haven't used it yet. You want to use it right away, since you only get them every 16 turns. What you do is go to one of the cities mentioned above and build a "Lex de colonia creando". WARNING: You get one click to add it to the building queue. If you remove it from queue, you don't get your points back, and you have to wait another 16 turns.

If you don't see an option for Lex de colonia creando, then you are missing its prerequisite: Strategic Fortifications.

Try Capua. I think it starts with the Strategic Fortifications needed.
