    Default Beware! Flemish rebel pikemen

Usual thing, rebel army wants sorting out. Sent in just sufficient troops with yeoman archers. Arrows raining down on these poor souls.................but hey what's this the 3 units of rebel flemish pikeman just keep coming. WOW! that was great!! I truly had a fight on my hands and won it by the skin of my teeth. Flemish rebel pikemen don't have the passive bug BEWARE!! or was it just a fluke?

I tried to blitz Antwerp in the opening turns as HRE with just enough troops for a chance of victory but it took three seperate attempts and I became pathologically fixated on taking it as the milanese siezed florence. Probably best not to get obsessive like that...

My army runs on Mercenary Pikemen

I sware my entire Scottish armed forces are 80% Mercenary. Might have helped me capture a few places.. Say.. York to Venice.

They're tough as crap. My entire English army routed from Antwerp led by Henry. I need to retool and try tot ake it again. Hopefully nobody else decides to besiege it, considering I've worn down the enemy.

that is the fun.Always look out for others armies sieging enemy cities.
Most of the time they need 2 attempts to take their objectives.
So sneek in after the first attemt and attack an already weackend enemy.
Hapened 2 times playing as the spanish, while the portugees trying to capture a city.

I lead a few armies dominated by mailed knights (about 6 of them to 4 other unit types) around the place during the early game, and when I come up against a tough seige where i'd normally need the infantry, i use attrition seiges to force the enemy to sally out where I can flood the enemie's weak points.

I was very worried when I saw the Flemish Pikmen sally out when, with my french army, i used this strategy on antwerp. Luckily I got my witts back and charged the formation while it was still sallying out. I would have probably snapped if my 8 turns (16 years!) of seige had have been wasted by a wall of flemish pikemen.
