    I know.
It is very unlikely that during a normal in-game battle the player will see those textures that much close.
Of course, when I release the models you'll be able to judge that for yourself.

    I have.
They just don't show very much and I don't want to risk overdoing it.
For the time being, my concern is mainly the luminance of the metal in the helmets.

By the way, what are you working on at the time?
Maybe we can see your works in a thread here, yes?

Well, it had not occurred to me, but it's not a bad idea, so you can give me ideas and opinions to improve

I will prepare the subject then and as soon as I publish it

I now have a few more screenies but they are fixes only, not much new in the visuals.
Namely, the metal of the helmets is less shiny, the normals at the sides of some of the helmets are fixed and the UV mapping of the chainmail coif has been improved, though it will not be perfect in this model.
Let me know if the helmets are preferable this way.

I suppose when I upload them I can include a map for the figure textures that won't be color coded for those who prefer it.

For now you can view below the first three shield patterns for De Hauteville Norman Sergeants:

1st did not know that the spears were also painted, a curious detail

    2 The model seems fine

3 The texture with metal in the left part, seems of less resolution than that of the right.
And the wood of the spear at the bottom seems pixelated, I do not know if it is the same as in 3ds max that in the viewport the same quality does not appear

I still need to fix some of the vertex weights, namely in the back of the coifs and the front rims of the gambeson sleeves and then add variety and their accessories.
But the new body model has shown that it is solid and that's the completion of the first big step in the process of making them.
I would also say that the glossiness of the helmets needs to be toned down a bit but now is the time for commenting on the saturation and the resolution of the textures.[/QUOTE]

I think this is going to be able to help you

As you can see from the spears I have modeled, only two out of five will be decorated.

This is intentional, it's supposed to be a different metal.
I have used those butt spikes models and textures in other models and they look fine by me in-game.

It;s not pixelated, it's just dirty, also intentional.

3DSmax (and Blender until recently) don't show a rendered version of the works-in-progress.
Milkshape on the other hand, does so partially, in that it shows rendered versions of the model with the diffuse maps but not the normal maps as it is being worked on.
The next release of Blender will too allow the user to work directly on a rendered viewport.

First IG screenshots of the Normans of De Hauteville Sicily and with a full complement of all the types of gambeson textures.
I am still experimenting with the normal map intensity on some parts as you may be able to see.
I will soon post screenshots of the other factions as I finish more shield patterns.

I really like the textures. They're very welldone. what I don't like is that they appear "too shiny", something like a modern synthetic pattern if you can see my point. But yes, it can also be due to the normal map that still needs some adjustments. Look forward for the final result

For the gambesons I am using the same texture maps that I used for my peasants and militias but with two differences:
One is that the diffuse map now has colors, the other is that the glossiness map has a slight tint of white on the black.
That is to say the glossiness map on the gambesons in the peasants was pitch black, on the soldiers above it is only slightly "bleached" black.
I am going to experiment with a tad toned down normal for the gambesons and I will try to find a better average for the shield parchment.
You can observe one of the shields has the original normal (whit triskelion), another a very intense one (red triskelion) and a third (red-&-white star) two cut-like dents.
I was expecting some comments on the shield normals.
