    Default Crazy generals and speeches

Howcome my generals always tend to give the same speeches? It doesn't seem that their virtues/faults are reflected when they give battle speeches.

For example, I had a level 8 dread, deranged general who talked about God and glory! Wtf! I wanted him to talk about giant hedgehogs and the moon people!

I had an English general with he getting pissed all the time trait who sat there ranting about someone calling his mother fat and slurring his words.

The generals speeches in this are incredibly boring and uninspiring compared to Rome.

i through so too romes were far better acted and much cooler and funnier. They picked a perfect voice for the roman geenral. Listened to a few (only had game for two days mobo fried) and they all bored me.

I never listened to speeches in either game. Frankly I've thought it was development time completely wasted on what could have been better AI or something equally important.

You sure got that one right. I hated the speeches and clicked through them even though you lose some points in morale by doing so...

Well, you didn't so much lose points as not get the additional boost in points that listening to them would get you....

I definitely read that somewhere....where? Don't ask me where...it's one molecule of knowledge in the great flowing river or the Internet...

I doubt whether the guys who program ai are the same team that write or apply the speeches and sound in the game.

Exactly. They add some flavor, help a small bit with immersion. I also agree with the guy who said the Rome speeches were better. Although I did laugh at the English general who said the "French were lovers not fighters, just ask any goat or sheep."

Speaking about crazy generals, anyone notice the slight overzelousness of the spanish/italian region generals?

When defeating an enemy general, you tend to get interesting voicovers along the lines of "the idiot has been beaten!"

I know, not exactly "extreme", but it seems a little harsh and childish. I loved it when i first heard it anyway.

I had a mad English king and his speeches were typically funny.

They start out typical and normal, but then...

"I BELIEVE WE SHOULD SEND THE PIXIES IN FIRST!"

    wha?

Slurred: " 'ave you guys SEEN my wife? What a WRETCH!" *cheers from the men*
