Nice! Did you get her from fighting the English? I didn't fight many Englishmen in my French campaign... the Scots whooped their asses too quickly!

Yes, I did get her from fighting the English. I attacked London and it took

this many kills to get her (and the amount of stars he got).

I still cry about losing that general, 10 stars at 19 years old died to a 1 subterfuge assassin. Sigh..

I finished that campaign. I let his daddy conquer the rest of England, and die a nice little death in Dublin with a piddly 3 stars.

Jeez. I've been fighting the wrong people. As the French I immediately moved Southeast and started in with Milan, Sicily, and (to an extent) The Holy Roman Empire.

I absolutely regret not picking a fight with the English immediately to get that retainer. Thankfully, they're whooping the crap out of Scotland rather than the other way around, so hopefully when I finish up with Sicily and Milan I can double back and start in on England.

One question, though since the guy got assassinated I doubt you'll know: Is she transferrable among characters? I really hope the extremely rare ones such as that are...if not it would be kind of disappointing.

I'd love to see a list of what special retainers you get for doing certain things. Anyone know where one might be?

Heh I waited until turn 174 to attack England, mostly because Milan, Venice, HRE and Spain wouldn't leave me alone, while the English did

I don't think she's transferrable, as most retainers can't be, even the simple ones. Quite annoying on that...

Well look at it this way... retainers follow a person, not a faction... what, you are just going to say, "OK, I know you are only here because of Joe, but Bob really needs your help now. Yeah, I know you're kind of a volunteer... but... I command you, stop loving Joe, start loving Bob."

Isn't that what happened in RTW?

I never said transferrable retainers made sense. It's still pretty damn nice, though. Nothing quite like snagging an awesome retainer and then losing it (as the original poster did) after three rounds because of a lucky assassination.

I wish some of the simple things could be transffered. For example, I had an assassin with some nice retainers, he failed a mission and lost all his skills. I had another 30 year old assassin with 4 in subterfuge but no retainers, and I wanted to transfer an exquiste blade and handguns. No dice

Yeah some stuff should be. In BI as the ERE I found the Spear of Longinus somewhere in Asia Minor and had it 'carried' over land and sea all the way to northern Italy where I was fighting the Huns (it gives +3 to Command for the general in possession of it). Had an epic feel to it. Although if that were possible with Jeanne, she would never die.

My crusader faction heir got a 'Dread Knight' who I thought looked uncannily like one of the evil footsoldiers in the movie Krull.

Quick question - What is the difference between "+2 morale for all troops on the battlefield" and "+2 command"? Doesn't command affect the morale of the troops?

Seems, that young general had a lot of fun
    Not for long, though.

If you can transfer retainers like you could in Rome then they may live on forever which is quite lame.

How the heck do you transfer retainers anyway? I can't get it to work.
