Default Pavilion of Saint Agathius (Robert de Bourgogne camp)

    Pavilion of Saint Agathius

Having arrived in in the Orthodox lands of Byzantium, Robert de Bourgogne, Bishop of Langres, assisted by crusading soldiers and local peasants, erected a medium sized tent to serve a portion of the crusading forces. He made it in the name of Saint Agathius, matyr of the Christian faith, who was murdered in this exact city over 700 years ago. May all those seeking the protection, courage, and resilience of Saint Agathius of Byzantium come forth to the small altar.

Bishop Robert can be found daily in or around the pavilion.2,100 Soldiers at the Camp
    -420 Footmen
    -420 Spearmen
    -315 Bowmen
    -525 Man-at-Arms
    -420 Knights

With the meeting haveing ended, a man of Bartholomäus requested humbly an audience between the bishop and the Papal Legate in terms of the Crusade and the current situation.

One of the laymen volunteers quickly ushered the man to the side of the pavilion, where a curtain was draped to allow for confessions and privacy of the Bishop.
"Ah. I had heard that there's was a legate amongst the Army."

    The messenger nodded polite.
"Indeed, Excellence", he began devout in front of the bishop, "The Apostolic Nuntio has heard about your presence as well and would be interested in a private talk among men of the Church. Though being elected recently to this position, mein Herr Bartholomäus can assure you his political experience, he gathered the recent years in Rome at the court of his Holyness himself and thinks that cooperation from the start of the Crusade would be of quite importance. The Holy Land is so far an unknown territory, the mission of the Pope against the Turks has to be executed - though he does not doubt in the strength of our host to do this task with the help of God, there are most likely matters which should get discussed before the first battles."
The man made a small pause.
"Not more was told to me, but to ask in his name, if the Bishop of Langres would discuss the ideas with him in personal as his guest", he then concluded, "It would be an honor for my Lehnsherr to meet you."

OOC: Hope I did not overdid the German - might be inaccurate when it comes how vassals title their masters. ^^

    "Of course, of course."
    Robert stood.
"Shall I accompany you to meet the Legate?"

"There is no need for it, Excellence, as I should inform him about your permission, and if it is given, he would like to visit you himself", the messenger replied, before he left, "I will inform him right away with your permission, Excellence."

Once the man disappeared, minutes later Bartholomäus von Höchst appeared himself, followed only by two guardsmen. Obviously, even though he was dressed in his official robes, the German was probably not a man, who cared much about the magnitude of his appearence, as he wore not much gold and only what was necessary for a bishop's authority. His staff was moved in the right hand like a pilgrim would do it, as he stepped devout towards the pavilion of the bishop.
"I was informed that Robert de Bourgogne, Bishop of Langres, accepted my request", he said towards the guards of the bishop, as he ordered his men to remain in distance for escorting him back to his tent later, "May I enter the pavilion?"

He quickly waved his hand towards a chair
    "Please, sit."
After the man had taken his seat, Robert sat as well
"I am told that you needed to see me, Eminence? At least that is what the messenger said"

Baron Wynebald FitsTurstin arrives at the entrance of the tent with Duke Curthouse and few others. Namely Wynebalds brother Wynoc. He presents himself with a bow asking entrance and an audience for him and Duke Curthouse.

    "My Lord Duke!"
Robert exclaimed upon seeing the Norman in the patched church tent
"How may I be of service to you this afternoon?"

    Robert Curthose's nodded:

"Monsieur, many think I am an unfaithful, a rascal, a man who has forgotten God and his commandments, faithless"

    He wavered a hand.

"But that is far from the truth, my Lord de Bourgogne, I am a pious son of the Church and follower of our Lord and Saviour. I wish to be fully reconciled with our mother, the Holy Church, and her servants, never be again accused of not being pious or a righteous man, a most devout pilgrim"

Bishop Robert nodded at the man's words
"You are on a sworn Crusade, my Lord. Called by our Holy Father to save the Children of Christ who are oppressed and turned away from the sites in which our Lord Christ himself visited and lived."
    He paused
"No man can doubt the piety of a member of this endeavor. Be he King or peasant. The Holy Father has promised absolution to all of this involved in this grand campaign. That absolution extends to you as well, my Lord."

"However, mon seigneur, I must ease my soul with an early absolution, granted by you, Bourgogne. All shall know that Normandie is now a reverent son of the Church who has abandoned his old ways and looked for your pardon and spiritual blessings, father"

    He looked pensive.

"We, as warriors of Christ, must work in harmony and unison, struggling to free the Holy Places. Many thing ill of myself, distrust me thanks to those who mud my name so unrighteously! I sought you as we have bounds of blood, for we both are descendants of bon roi Robert le Pieux"

ooc: Robert's mother was Maud of Flanders, granddaughter of Robert II. Thus we're both great-grandsons of the Capetian King.

Sir Malcolm arrives, he moves quietly into the tent. He waits to see the Bishop.

The Scotsman is waved over by the Bishop
"Ah seigneur. Please come, s'asseoir, s'asseoir, sit, sit."
He put down a small book and adjusted himself
"How may I help you, Chevalier?"

The lady looked with respect to the Bischop and spoke carefully. If it was her office things would to be changed to though.

'Yes, Bishop i know they days of my father where papers would wander around in his rooms with clothes being thrown on the floor. In that aspect you remind my of me father.'

she looked to the floor in shame and her cheeks turned red. Slowly she talked to the bishop.

    'Can you keep secrets?'

Malcolm hesitates slightly, for the first time since this campaign began. He speaks in Latin.

"Well, your eminence, many of my men are from the Highlands. Many of them follow the old gods. They came here because I led them here. They have all agreed to convert to the faith. I wondered if you would baptise them?"

He hesitates once more before going on.

"I also wondered if it would be possible for you to bless me, so I can live and succeed for long enough to raise my sons as good Christians. I would also like to pray, while I am here. If it is possible."

"If I were to deny Christ to men, I would be thrown out of the church."
    He nodded
"I would like to speak to your men. Know whats in their hearts. And if they wish for the blessing, then I would be more than honored to grant it to them"

He listened as the Knight continued

"You are on a Crusade commissioned by the Vicar of Christ. Sir Malcolm, through my power as Bishop of Langres, Servant of our Holy Father, and Child of our Lord Christ, you are blessed for your commitment to his causes and to the faith. May perpetual light shine upon you, and may you walk into the Kingdom of Heaven beside the Saints and Martyrs that have come before you."
He nodded with a slight smile, bowed his head slightly, closed his eyes, and placed a hand upon the Knight sitting before him
"O, our Lord, Jesus Christ, I beseech You to pour down your Holy Spirit over all of Your children. I beg You to forgive those who have hatred in their souls for You.
I pray that the lost open up their hardened hearts during your Great Mercy and that Your children who love You can honor You with dignity to rise above all persecution.
Please fill all Your children with the gift of Your Spirit, so that they can rise with courage and lead your army into the final battle which is to come, the demons sent to tempt us, and all those souls who are slaves to false promises. Protect your warriors who fight for you here on Earth, and watch over them as they spread your name throughout the continent. Amen."

Annalisa started her story not knowing what to expect

'It's a long story, holy bischop. Since i have been born i have never been really loved by my parents, especially not by my father. Throughout my entire life he expressed several times disappointment in me for being female. He wanted me to be a pawn for his political games, but i'm different, i admit i'm a sinner o holy bishop'

    Now in shame she continued

'I have always disobeyed my father's will, i did not want to marry to a fat old man that wanted to touch me with his dried hands despite my father's will. I did not became a nun like he wished after the aforementioned case. He almost cursed me for disobeying him and my actions, i have done many more doubtful actions that put shame to my family's name. I have done unholy actions in the past, including adultery. I have doubts about the church and sometimes i can only think of myself and sexual action. I'm afraid that i'm the one that put shame on this crusade. Bischop can you guide me to a better pad?, or atleast help me with it because i fear my actions might alienate others from me.'
'If i only could have felt some love i could have been different'

Clearly the bischop would atleast notice some sadness in her

'O bischop can you forgive my sins?'
