    Default Screen problems

I have lately problems with screen. I have to say imidiately that I am very uneducated when it comes to informatics, so please, excuse me from my lack of basic knowledge that I will present here. Anyway, the problem is that screen of my laptop is quite wide - I mean, it's width is much bigger than it's height. Probably for that reason, whenever I played MTW2, on the right and left side of my screen was certain area that we just black. So game was just in the middle of the monitor, and thanks to that, resolution was regular. But lately, for unknown reason, these "black areas" on sides of monitors disappeared, and game screen is stretched on the entire monitor. And because it's width is much bigger than height, the game resolution became much worse and playing experience is not what it used to be. How can I repair that?

Have you tried editing the resolution in the game itself?

When you load the game, on the Main Menu, click Options > Video Settings and click Show Advanced Options. Here you can change both/either the Battle and Campaign resolutions. There is also a tick-box for Widescreen, which you should probably tick if it isn't already, an Auto-Detect button near the bottom you can try (note that this may affect other things). Make your changes, click Apply Changes, and see how you go.

You would probably be wanting resolutions the same as your computer's monitor is. If you don't know what it is, to find them in Windows, go to your Desktop, right-click anywhere and select Display Settings. I use Windows 10, so on the resulting page I have to click Advanced Display Settings. Your resolution will be shown here. Make a note of it, and then select the same resolution in the game. If they don't exactly match, you'll just need to pick whatever is closest, and maybe test a few different options until you find one that suits you best.

Let us know how you go.

I have tried what you said. I checked resolution in my Windows and it was 1366 x 768. I have done the same in Video Settings in M2TW, but nothing has changed. I need those 2 black areas to appear on the sides of my screen, but they didn't appear, and playing screen looks stretched all the time.

Try using resolution 1024 x 768 (in game). I just tried it and I got the "black bars" on either side.

I can't find widescreen button anywhere there. Also there is no resolution 800 x 600 offered.

    Apologies, I meant 1024 x 768.

And is it possible that maybe problem is not in a game settings, but somewhere in computer settings? Because this negative change that happened in game, it happened unexpectedly, I wasn't changing anything in the game. Is there something I can do in computer settings that may positively affect game screen?

Can you provide some screenshots of how your game looks now? It may help solve the mystery of why it changed suddenly.
