Yeah, it looks like that army is on a crusade. How do you get them? Can they be recruited as unit?
I would assume that they would be recruitable with the rest of the Crusader troops, but where is beyond me? Maybe regional in Rome?

Yes, they are possible merc troops for hire outside of the holy land (i.e. in your empire)...relatively rare, I've only ever seen 2... they function like a Carrocio (sp?) Standard does for the Venitians. X number of heavy spear troops guard it, which is 60 with huge units, and they have the same stats as crusader sgts I believe.
Morale-boosters are always tough to test, but the troops are competent enough in battle.

It's still a nice thing to see, a giant cross at the front of your crucifix-shaped Crusader army.

in palermo they are recruitable
Yeah, that'd be cool to have one attached to your crusading armies every time you go on crusades. The one in "Kingdom of Heaven" looked bad ass.![]()
I had one on my crusade to Jerusalem; I was running low on infantry during the siege and decided to send the cross in. Go figure the wagon doesn't fit under a gateway =(

If you want to use the troops that guard the cross just Alt+Attack and they will leave the cross for greater glory on the battlefield![]()

i wonder if that thing can charge?
You probably could drop the Cross and use the people who were holding it into combat if it were utterly necessary.
Exactly. Haven't crusaded in the holy land yet but when I do, Acre is my first target.
The description of it was, Holy cross guarded by elite troops ready to die to protect the cross, or something like that.
So I assume that if you detach the cross, the soldiers (few in numbers) could be usefull at the final moments of the battle when the winner is decided.
