    Default On Satrap/Client State unit recruitment

    I recently started an Egypt campaign, and in my war against the Seleucids I decided that, instead of fighting for Syria from the beginning of the war I will defend Nabataea while using the beach head on Anatolia owned by my Satrap Cyprus to start weakening the seleucids Greek and Cappadocian allies. Firstly I'll say that I can't wait for 1.1. The Thureos reforms just passed and the Seleucids have been degraded into two cities in two diffrent provinces and one satrap. as Egypt you never get a Diadochi war since they are smoushed to ash in less then 20 turns, I hope that the Autoresolve scripts will make some diffrence. Anyway back to satrap recruitment.

    I only just got my own province in Anatolia, but as you can expect it's a , currently worth nothing to me. The issue I have run into is that I need to replenish some los basic units, like nothing fancy, but I simply can't do it since the local mercs nor AOR troops supply slingers, nor any type of ranged unit. Would this be a suitable usage of Satrap/client state recruitment? Like, I can fully understand the lack of high tier troops (I recently shipped some new horsemen from Alexandria to Anatolia for example), that should be reserved for the AOR, but why not allow players to recruit some basic like slingers or spearmen from their Satraps/Client states as a fall back tactic incase things get really dark...

    What do you think, should Satrap/Client State recruitment be removed as it currently is, or be put back?

    The client state recruitment system was removed because it bypassed reform restrictions, no other reason. You could recruit thorax units from your client states at the start of the campaign sometimes. There's a submod that re-enables the client state recruitment though, if you don't mind that problem.

    I see. I wonder, is the system hard coded? Like what if it was possible to edit the system allowing for like a few specific unit types be recruitable from all Satraps/Client States, for example Tier one Archers, Slingers aswell as tier one spears and swords. If I am correct these units arn't affected by the reform scripts. Then again it might be too much hassle for just four units , anyhow thank you for explaining the situation.

    We can only change a single value (I think it is number of client/levies available) related to the mechanic. We have no idea how the units available are selected.

    Yeah, I think that's why they ignored reforms. You'd just get access to a random set of units from your client state's barracks in that province.

    You can just restrict Yourself from hiring units that are available before their reform kicks in. If You have PFM, You can just open part 1 of of DEI, go here http://i.imgur.com/MSawJ3d.png and delete the selected rows. And try it out! there are a lot of unique units that one can have only with levying! Also, I have never seen AI using levies neither in vanilla rome 2, nor in DEI, so You should be good as long as You restrict Yourself!

    Hmmm... I could've sworn I'd seen it once. Maybe that was Attila though...
