Is it an improvement on RTW?

I'd have to say YES!

Many of the aspects of RTW that sucked, still suck in MTW2 but I can think of several aspects that are better and none that are worse.

• The graphics are great.
• The soundtrack is superb.
• The voice-overs are a marked improvement (although still a little cheesy in places).
• The game is more multi-faceted than RTW with, for example, the addition of religion, merchants, night-attacks etc.

MTW2 is definitely an improvement over RTW but not hugely so. If RTW was a 5 out of 10 then MTW2 rates at a 7, ie: Good but could be better.

The only big let-down is that the AI still sucks.

Of course it's an improvement over RTW. M2TW adds a lot of cool things that were missing from RTW and what I love best is that campaign AI is improved.

Its basically the exact opposite of RTW compared to MTW, when combat improved but AI got worse.

I prefered every single last little detail in MTW to RTW except the 3d battle engine. I even prefer the paper map. The combat was definately FAR better in the good ol MTW. RTW and MTW2 combat are both ****.

what didn't you like about RTW's combat? It had its faults but how could 2d sprites be any better.

I love the speech with the drunk generals where they say "And now men ch... WHAT WHAT GOD'S NIPPLES! WHO DRANK ALL THE ALE?!! IS IT ALL GONE?"
