    Default Barbarian Invasion

I was thinking to myself how strange Rome II appears - I think the civilized factions (Rome, hellenics) should be greater in
quality and dicipline, while the barbaric tribes should function more like a horde - great in numbers, but lacking in dicipline and
structure. This seems more accurate to me, especially with the historic records we have of battles between Romans and barbarians
    that we have today: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germanic_Wars

Instead, troughout the game the barbarians are able to field at least as powerful units as the romans, while the soldier ratio is
1:1 for full stack armies between cultures. Indeed the romans slightly trump other factions with their praetorian guards, but that
is only for the later part of the campaign. You never get the feeling of slaughtering endless waves of barbarians clashing against
your impenetrable shield wall, or the joy of completely surrounding and overwhelming an isolated roman garrison or force in the woods.

I was therefore thinking of a way to reflect this military "balance" in the game. The most obvious seems to be to increase the unit sizes
of the barbarian factions (especially the non-elite units, it makes sense that heroic nobles, sword masters etc should be limited
in numbers), while decreasing the quality of the same units as a counter-measure. Possibly adjust the price also.

If possible, I think this would be a really cool addition to the game, making the factions more fun and distinctive, in addition to
being (in my opinion) more historically accurate. Is there any mod that does a similar thing? If not, would this be hard to accomplish?

    Welcome to the Forum

Irl it wasn't like in the movies and there were no "endless waves of naked celtic soldiers with bad weapons slaughtered by roman infantry" (if the roman slaughtered thousands of enemies it was mostly against Macedons/seleucids which were killed after their phalanx was destroyed by some bad decision of their leaders; like in Pydna or Magnesia)
Actually, the celts were known for their good smiths (the early roman helments are celtic). Having good units is absolutely ok for them (and realistic). I'm speaking about the celts in gallia, in Britannita they were slaughtered by the romans at Watling Street though (but mainly because the "soldiers" there were a bunch of angry civilians. Which is normal in uprisings...)

Also it's rare that "barbarians" (which were for greeks/romans lower developed. Which is not necessarly true) field much more units than romans, simply because it was rare that the different clans were united.
It's a common mistake to think barbarians = huge number of wilde hordes
(like in WW2 Russians are known to throw their men aways, although the USA threw much much more men and material at the axis because they had more ressources than the Russians. Even the Zulu were not a wild horde of undisciplined guys armed with spears and shields, they were really good organised ).

It's realistic that greek standard phalanx will root immidiately after the formation is broken, at least more realistic than no good units for celts.

If you want to slaughter poor hordes of barbarian civilians (including 25% women) you need to play Attila:TW, there are women in the barbarian levy units (which was common and is realistic when a nation migrates like in the cimbrian war or the uprising of Boudica)

BUT if you really want to slaughter hordes of celtic levies it's pretty easy to do so
You need PFM (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...Attila-support), if you have questions how to use it feel free to ask.
