Default A Big Fan Wondering If I Should Start a 1.0 Campaign

Hey guys, huge fans of DeI, you're responsible for a good 250 hours of my 450 on Rome 2, it's refreshing finding a mod team with (in my mind) the objectively correct attitude towards historical attitude and gameplay.

Hugely excited for the big release, basically feels like we're getting a whole new game. My question is how long will the wait for 1.1 be? Is it worth me starting a new campaign, or is it gonna be released in the next couple of weeks?

Hope it's going well, all the best.

its always worth to start a new campaign until there is proper hotseat like in Medieval II where you could play ALL factions

I can't give a definite release date, we are hoping to have it out within the next month or so. But, sometimes unforeseen things happen.

1.05 is in a very good spot, though, so you shouldn't fear starting new campaigns

I can only say we are aiming to get it out soon, possibly toward the end of this month. Assuming things go right.

I second the praise of Dakka for the mod, i came back to TW a few weeks ago and searching for something like i used to play in Rome (Rome Total Realism) i ended up with DEI... great work!!

Now a doubt as a Punic fan (Punic fan... not "puny fan" you filthy romans..) i have started and failed a few times as Carthage, and the first time i play as Rome i wreck everything easily...

    So what i'm doing wrong?

First in battles im not sure if my Hoplite phalanx should charge to meet the charging Romans or just wait to receive them. In my biggest defeat so far some 6k Romans beated my 4,5k army when my normally unbreakable Phalanx center collapsed under the pressure giving no time for my victorious wings to smash the enemy line from behind...

Also my Balearic Slingers seems to kill too many of my own troops if they shoot from behind my line into the enemies in melee.

The "Italy in turmoil" event that gives Rome free units happens how often? Under what conditions? How many times?

One of my biggest issues is my extremely week economic base.. once Rome DOWs me i can only mantain one big army in Italy, conquering Sicily and Magna Grecia into a stalemate while Spain and Africa is left undefended saved only by my very week diplomatic skill.

To reach some economic development im not sure wich buildings to mix in each region to rise my income...

Those are the doubts that come into my mind right now...

    Thanks for some great Battles!!!

Always charge enemy infantry with your hoplites, and make sure the hoplite phalanx ability is turned on before you charge. That second part won't matter so much in 1.1 though, with the actual ability being removed.

Don't fire slingers into a melee unless you're okay with taking a lot of friendly casualties. Slingers can't arc their fire over your own men, and they have a very wide spread.

The Romans get free armies when they lose one of their starting regions. Not every message gives an army to Rome - some are just for flavor. Also the free Roman armies only appear... once per reform level, I think. I'm not completely sure.

Thank you for the info on release date ! (Too bad it's gonna be at the moment of Fallout 4 release ... but oh well, take your time, this mod is the only reason R2 is installed on my PC)

So I have time for a new campaign in 1.05... wonder whith which faction I will do it...
Might give a shot to nomadic factions, I like them, but I'm so bad in battles with them, sounds like a challenge
