Campain map WASD stopped working - now Divide et Impera doesn't even load

I was well into a Legendary campaign (about 300 turns) and for some reason the direction keys WASD stopped working. I tried restarting the game and PC but the problem wasn't solved.

I tried to verify the integrity of the game cache (I have the steam version of steam), but for some reason it didn't work it just got stuck on 0% and stayed there.

Trouble is now whenever I load Rome 2, it doesn't even recognise DEI, it just loads up the Emperor edition. The DEI save game is still there, but it crashes whenever I load it.


There is a solution to the campaign camera issue in this thread that involves using EditSF.exe editor seen in the link below:

I don't have this editor and I was worried if I download it might crash the game even further. I would try this now if I wasn't having the issues with loading DEI.


I'm worried that VIOGC (even though it didn't work, hoping this doesn't suggest a bigger problem?) has somehow crashed the files and now DEI will not work.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Any ideas why my game stopped recognising DEI? I figured I need to solve this issue before I can try and solve the campaign camera issue.

I REALLY do not want to loose this save game!!!! I was finally enjoying this game and seriously into this campaign and I do not want to have to start again!!!

Just download EditSF and do as in the instructions. I get this camera bug at least once per campaign, no matter if with mods or in vanilla.

That what I would do but DEI doesn't even load now when I launch the game. Any suggestions how to sort that out? I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to Mods.

I can't see what I've done to change anything, I looked at the program files but didn't change anything and tried to VIGC but that didn't even work.

Make sure all Divide et Impera mod packs are placed in your Rome II data folder and check if they are activated with CA's Mod Manager

Could you walk me through how to use EditSF? I've downloaded it and unpacked it, but I can't find where my DEI save game data is to edit.

I've validated my cache as well but it didn't solve it.

Here is a link to a thread that worked well for me. Follow the instructions to a letter, and your save game should start working again fine.

generally just save every couple of turns, restarting the game and loading up a save file worked 99% of the times. It is generally a good habit to save occasionally
