Default When do "High" Units Appear?

I don't know if I'm encountering a bug or I'm just impatient. But I started a campaign as England in the Late Era and I am incredibly frustrated by my inability to recruit Longbowmen or Yeoman Archers. It's well past 1260 and I'm still stuck with miles knights (and one or two feudal knights) with levy/vanilla archers, while desperately protecting what few Longbowmen with which England starts the game. What the hell is the deal here? I get access to Light Men at Arms and Armored Sergeants... and really nothing 'Late' or from the 'High' era has appeared. Am I doing something wrong? The buildings like the barracks don't even show me being able to recruit them from the later editions. It's "fyrd spearmen" all the way down.

Look for the trigger events in export_description_buildings.txt

At 1260... your just around the corner from the event where you get to recruit longbowmen...

Be patient for a few more years

Go to the descr_events file and change the English Archers event to year 0 if you want them right away
