Default Piast Nobles upkeep SS 6.4

Why Piast Nobles unit (Poland faction) costs 1070 and 600 upkeep? It's impossible to even use them while other factions have a little bit weaker cavalry but they costs 300 or 1000 but upkeep 200-300 not 600 lol. Poland has weak archers and infantry so they should use cavalry but not with 1070 recruitment cost and 600 upkeep it's not real almost 2k for 1 unit O.o

You always have to compare the kind of the unit, where it is placed in the roster and its costs with other faction units. Piast Nobles are in fact the polish "Feudal Knights", depending on the faction upkeep varies between 450-600. Piast Nobles have less armor but more attack, so you could say they are equal in quality.

All north/east european (christian) factions have weak archers, but i don not consider Lithaunian Archers as weaker as the regualr Archers of your neighbors (at least they can deploy stakes). On the other hand, you can place a variation of fast and heavy cavalry as Poland in mid-late game that is unmatched in that region and got the access to almost all types of Pikemen and Musketeers.

Hmm yep but it's still impossible to recruit them for 1k and 600 upkeep (Piast Nobles) and form an army with them so they are useless imo. For e.g playing as Poland I had to form sometimes 2-3 full armies to fight on multiple fronts. Byzantine Empire (40 turn) almost destroyed Hungary, they took half of Italy and they are best in overall report all the time. So I sent 2 new armies there to help and protect Hungary and guess what. Their one not full army completely destroyed my 2 full armies. Byzantine have a huge choice of many units, GOOD units with high stats. Archers, Infantry, Cavalry with 5-15 attack 10-15 def and they upkeep is 150, 200, 300. Poland and some other factions have no such wide choice of good and cheap units. I speak about early era campaign. They sent many full armies with high stats and silver/gold experience I can't even do anything to them with my spearman's and missile cavalry. I'd really enjoy more low tier units to recruit with better stats not only for Poland cuz some other factions have a similar situation.

It is widely known that the ERE roster is superior in early games, together with their strong economy you could say they are the mongels at that time

Maybe you should try late campaign, it is far more balanced (my opinion) and you wont have to deal with enemies you can't defeat (unless you come in contact with mongols of course)

I am not sure how the comparison to regular upkeep goes in regular SS 6.4 since SSHIP has the average mounted knight at ~1100, so I may be a little off.

However, Polish cavalry tends to be the cream of the crop of cavalry in any age they are used. A single Piast Noble more than likely has more of an effect on a battle than 600 upkeep worth of spear militia.

Someone is finding a complaint about Poland? What, mounted crossbowmen aren't good enough for you?

Your big mistake was going against the Byzantines. As long as you keep peace with the HRE, Hungary (Byzantines in this case), and Denmark/Norway you'll be making enough money in trade where you won't notice the cost of the Piast Nobles, which are wonderful units when used correctly. Poland should keep their attention to Baltics, as both Russias usually have a 50/50 chance of either joining forces against you or fighting each other so you get easy pickings. You're going to be one of the first Catholic nations to interact with the Mongols most likely, so don't bother with your west, north, and south for expansion.
