Anyone remember when they announced BI after RTW was released, VI after MTW? Maybe CA has a release announcement policy or something.

Dunno, I don't think these "expansions" really have an announcement timeframe, even though the other games promptly had announcements of their expansions. There's no real guarantee that CA's gonna announce one so soon (it's only been like 12 days since the game came out) just because they've done so in the past.
It'd be nice to know that M2TW's gonna continue on, and chances are, that is highly likely.

they will bring out a patch with three or more new features as an expansion in around 8 months? maybe less, i dunno!

I wonder what era they would put the expansion in. The Renaissance? The beginning of the Imperial era (could we finally have naval battles with ships of the line?)?

Both very good, ideas, and in my mind roughly equal likelyhood. RTW had two expansions, who says M2TW won't? If both of those are released I would suggest that they would be in that order.I was hoping more focus on the Crusades, maybe a scenario with a faction called, "The Crusader States" (after all, they were pretty much their own autonomous state) already established in the Near East holy lands. I think the time for expansions is far away.Hell i have the game only 11 days.
By the time the first expansion comes out there will be a lot great mods (see RTW).

I played MTW:VI pretty much, so I would actually quite enjoy a VI2, too.
I could also imagine other regional campaigns than just this one.
In fact, it would be cool if an expansion would include several of such regional settings.
A regional campaign around Aztecs, Toltecs, Zapotecs and the like could be one of them, for example.
Somewhere I had read something about the era of reformation being part of the expansion...
