    Default How to defeat Atilla?

    Hello

Let me just start with sorry if this have been posted before but I could not find any thread about it.

I want to know the best tactics to defeat Atilla and the Huns?

I do not know how much time and resources I have spent on trying to kill the Huns, what I don't get is that on one turn i can kill 3 - 5 armies of the Huns and the next turn a few more still the Huns seam to spawn from Oblivion and come back at me... I have just managed to find and kill Atilla himself on may last 1 or 2 turns but the huns seem to be still coming back

I am currently at turn 189 with the Sassanid Empire please give me advice how to get rid of the "hunnic plague".

Kill Attila multiple times, then the hunnic spawn ends and they are a normal faction.

So I guess I now can share my own thoughts on this since I have defeated the Huns.

    * Get all or most armies after the bloody Huns.

    * Rebuild regions close to the Huns, this will make it easier to spot them and you will be able to rectruit new soldiers close to the battle.

    * Do not be AFRAID to sacrifice your men, they will go to heaven for there good work!

    * The Huns will just get more Huns from the Oblivion gate located somewhere in the wasteland.

    * After you have managed to kill Attila (make sure you get the kill message and not that he has been wounded), the Oblivion gate closes and victory can finally be made!

    One additional practical tip:

It hurts the Huns more to damage a stack than to obliterate it. Especially for their high quality stacks after around year 415. This prevents the spawning of fresh full stacks and according my observation the Huns can´t fill these stacks with own units, even less with the high level units, so each damaged stack gets filled with the available low quality German mercenaries, often enough never fully filled again.

So in a nutshell - kill the Attila stack as often as necessary, try to damage multiple other stacks. Easier said than done, I know, and most likely only a viable option if you can afford to burn stacks (money), so might be limited to both Romes and the Sassanids.

And before I forget - the most useful stance against Huns apart from ambush is fortified. So pure heavy spear stacks accompanied by some cavalry for mop up are effective hun killers.

    Regards,
    Thorsten

I am playing on very hard, with FotE installed(don't know if that Has anything to say) and i found that contrary to what most people say, you actually only need to kill Attila twice(wounding him in battle does not counts as a kill).

In my current playtrought i wounded him in battle, but when i returned to the campaing map, i saw that his unit was still present on the hunic stack, so i destroyed the whole stack and then i got the message sayig that "his next defeat would surely be his last".

The next time i saw him apear, i managed to easelly kill him with one of my spies. And got the message saying that he was dead, the huns were mourning, etc....
