MAARC LXI Submissions

[Merchant of Venice]

This is the submission/nomination thread for MAARC LXI!

Eligibility
- The nominated AAR must have at least two updates in September-October.
- The first place winner of the previous competition cannot compete in this current MAARC.
- Only one AAR per person.
- The submission of pre-published work is prohibited. Any story found to have been published offsite will be disqualified.
- Nomination deadline: the last day of the month.
- The competition is open for a month, followed by a one week, multi-poll vote.
- If there are less than 5 nominations, the submission period is extended for one week, followed by a poll with reduced rewards. If less than 3 stories are nominated, the competition continues indefinitely until at least 3 stories have been submitted.
- Usually authors nominate their own work. If you would like to nominate somebody else's work, please ask for the author's approval first (or encourage the author to nominate the AAR)!

Advertisement Rules
Advertising is allowed in the official advertising board and in AAR threads. Any other kind of direct advertising to advocate nominees is prohibited. Those who breach this rule shall be disqualified for 3 months.

Asking for votes is not allowed and will result in an immediate disqualification and ban of 3 months from the Competition forums.

The competition manager will take whatever steps necessary to insure the integrity of the competition.

2 points for Third Place

Points are accumulated towards the awarding of the Writers' Study Competition Medals.
6 points - bronze medal
12 points - silver medal
24 points - gold medal

Merchant, I'm honoured by the nomination. With competition like that, I'm clearly doomed, but it's competition I'll be proud to lose to. So here's my official entry for you:

A Long Way From Home

It's a Skyrim AAR that didn't start in Skyrim. It's a Skyrim AAR about a man who desperately wants to leave Skyrim. It's the story of a man who doesn't know where his home is or how to get there. It's the story of a man struggling to cope in a world he's not sure is real; a world where popping down to the shops for some milk is dangerous, and a trip to a nearby city to see the sights will result in you being attacked on the way – probably by creatures you don't believe exist...

A Shogun 2 Matsudaira (Tokugawa) AAR

In Sengoku Japan, honor is an ideal many strive to live up to. But in the reality of shifting alliances and the rise and fall of clans such as the Imagawa, Takeda, Oda, Uesegi, and others, many men break their word all for ambition.

Matsudaira Hirotada is a vassal of the mighty Imagawa in 1545, ordered by his overlord to make war on his neighbors, the Oda clan of Owari. Abe Sadayoshi is one of Hirotada's highest ranking retainers and will stop at nothing to see his lord rise. His counterpart Matsudaira Hidenaga wants the Matsudaira to have the best reputation among the vassals of the Imagawa. But with enemies and intrigue all around, can they rise while remaining true to bushido and their own core values? Can either man achieve his goals? In shadowy meetings and the turbulent battlefields of Japan they begin to find the answers to these questions.

It is 1545, the Oda confront outsiders: to the north, the Saito of Mino province; to the east, the Tokugawa clan in Mikawa and, beyond them, the Imagawa lurk. Will the Oda clan rise to rule all of Japan or will they fall to the blades of their enemies?
