Default 30 fps, game feels like 1

For some odd reason my game feels as if it is running at 1-10 fps but i am currently at 30-40, any idea of whats going on? i can move the camera without problems but everything else feels like its in some terrible version of slow motion. Even when is use the tatical map i can see arrows from skirmish units projectiles doing the same exact thing at 60 frames, copyied my post from the steam forums, dont know whats up with the coloring

I think we need your specs and in game settings. This will hopefully shed some light on what might be the problem

Typical warscape enginge bug when you don't have good enough PC or at least the game thinks like that. It forces the animation to lag, while other animations run perfectly ok. Funny thing, turn on slow motion time and they will run super smooth. This mostly happens when there are too many troops or in siege battles.

I wish I could use the "slow motion" trick but you cant in battle realism mode

What could make your game run smoother is, of course, decreasing quality for performance. Also avoiding to zoom in battles, which loads all the highest quality textures etc.

I run it smooth on a 6-7 year old PC. (I think) with a radeon hd 4850... Just not anywhere near highest settings. I'm due for a pc upgrade me thinks hahaha

I never had this issue in shogan 2, during 20vs20 battles im getting 30-40 fps on max settings but none of these issues appear, it is almost the same case with empire, only problem with frames their is that when you destroy walls your fps drops to 1-10 for some odd reason, but this problem sticks to room 2, even when divide et impera is disabled the issue continues to annoy me.

Yeah, the problem is more apparent with DeI activated because of all the nice textures, but it's a Vanilla issue. I think it has to do with the CPU being overloaded in large battles; I mean, I assume it's not the GPU since turning my graphics down to low doesn't make any noticeable difference when it's happening.

Yep, it's definitely the CPU. Big battles take a lot of processing power.

Yea and to make matters worse doesn't it only utilize one cpu core?

Technically-speaking, it definitely uses more than one core, but it doesn't always use them all equally. If you're monitoring your processor while you play, and then close the game, you'll see the loads on all of your cores drop. Generally, however, while you're running the game you'll see that one core will be much more highly-loaded than the others.

So that basically means the engine creates a bottleneck in the cores and chokes itself?
