    Default Hellenic Army Composition

Does anyone know what the historical Hellenic armies were like in terms of troop composition, and the difference between them? For example, how much cavalry should an Antigonid army have, and how much should be Hetairoi, how much Prodromoi etc. How does this compare to a Seleucid army, or a city-state army (eg Athens)?

I can't speak to the Diadochi armies specifically, although I'd imagine they closely imitated Philip/Alexander, I can shed some light on the Macedonian army at the outset of the Persian campaign:
    I) CAVALRY

    • Heavy
      • Macedonian Hetairai (Companions) = 1,800
      • Thessalians = 1,200
      • Greek Auxiliaries = 400

    • Light
      • Macedonian Prodromoi (Lancers) = 600
      • Paeonians = 600
      • Odryssians = 600
        • Total Cavalry ............ 5,200

    II) INFANTRY

    • Phalangites
      • Macedonian Pezetaeri (Companions) = 9,000
      • Greek Auxiliaries = 4,000
      • Greek Mercenaries = 6,000

    • Peltasts
      • Macedonian Hypaspists (Companions) = 3,000 *these men bore the hoplite panoply instead of phalangite
      • Greek Auxiliaries = 1,000
      • Greek Mercenaries = 1,000
      • Thracian Acontists (Javelin men) = 4,000

    • Light armed
      • Macedonian Archers = 500
      • Cretan Archers = 500
      • Agrianian Acontists (Javelin men) = 1,000
        • Total Infantry............ 30,000

    Grand Total = 35,200

I could be wrong but I was under the impression that the Theban Sacred Band got annihilated to a man at Chaeronea.

It is safe to say that they got rammed rather hard by long Macedonian lances at Chaeronea.

Wow, those jokes are really stupid.

Yes, they were wiped out completely. They didn't contribute anything to Hellenic armies.

In-game I usually just load up the spearmen with a couple units of cavalry and a couple units of skirmishers (I avoid archers).
