Gondor is up!

The Haradrim Chieftain lured for Ammu Khand for as long as he is present on the borders. Not expecting a lot of opportunities from the well organized defenses of Rhun, today the odds were in our favor. The Easterlings failed to raise a large enough garrison in Ammu Khand to defend themselves from sudden attacks. And so our Haradrim spy saw fit to open the gates while the Chieftain and his armies approached before Rhun could call for reinforcements.

Damn, that was a sloppy move from me. For some reason I was thinking I need only 700 men to defend against spies. I don't know where I got the idea and of course my luck wouldn't be perfect, if your one spy just open on first try.

I had 2 spies in range, but only needed my well trained one. He provides a 72% chance to open gates![]()

I sent a message to TheBlackWolf right when we got the turn. I asked if I should sub once more, but he hasn't replied.
I am currently working hard on a project, and if I do not have it done by tomorrow evening I will fail my class so I'm not sure I have the time to play both turns before I'm done. I will get this thing done and play both turns after that.
Should at maximum take 48 hours from now.
Able to play my turn, just got back from a weekend away. Isenguard up

A big gamble. But I can't afford to wait forever.

There is nothing easy when playing as Rohan. I'm sitting between two power houses and trying to deal with both, which to be honest, puts Rohan in the least favored and toughest spot of the 6. Will play and post later today.

Rohan also has the best chance to win a quick victory against its opponent, both because Isengard is so small and because its capital is so close. For a while there, I thought you were going to do just that. If you had been able to defeat Isengard, you would be in the best spot to win the game. Easier said than done, I realize. But it's not like I as Gondor can afford to send the majority of my armies against you either.

I have never seen Rohan beat Isengard in a 1vs1 scenario. It's always a defeat or Rohan gets help from Gondor, etc. A quick victory is definitely possible, but it's rarely the case, and if you don't get that victory soon, I don't see how Rohan can defeat Isengard's OP forces. It seems a stalemate is the best case scenario.Rohan also has the best chance to win a quick victory against its opponent, both because Isengard is so small and because its capital is so close. I'm 3 for 3 there, mate. Feel free to try, if you like.
Rohan has got the possibility for a great rush, plus Rohan's Eorling Axemen units aren't that bad! Especially the units from the Barracks in Edoras kick ass. Don't underestimate Rohan!
I must say, I played this against Joe as well, but I can not exactly remember when or where. I believe it was in a larger hotseat where I eventually got attacked in my back. To be fair to Joe, he played it very well, and if I remember correctly he had a small advantage over me, but the match wasn't decided yet. Do you remember, Joe?

I remember. It was the Age of Men 4-faction hotseat, Gondor/Rohan vs. Mordor/Isengard. I knew your basic Rohan rush strategy by that time, so I put all my effort into stopping it. I didn't even go after South Tharbad; instead I deployed all troops to defend Isengard and Duneard. I don't think I ever captured South Tharbad actually. Anyway, the game died in turn 18 or so with me as Isengard having a slight advantage (captured Foldburg if I remember correctly). But I believe you were also trying to assist with Mordor, so that probably played a role as well.
Ah, yes, that is the one. I just looked up the hotseat. I don't recall if I had any forces helping Mordor, but MT fell eventually so I had to watch Aldburg.
But more importantly, I see that in this HS opening gates with spies wasn't allowed, thus significantly reducing the effectiveness of my rush, where I put pressure on both Dunland and Isengard, which is a lot easier to defend if you need only 1 unit garrison and cover both sides with a large army.
