Default CTD when starting a Battle

I have the same problem with or without the patch compilation. I´m using the non steam version and win 7 64 bit. All my games are installed at D drive, so i didnt turn off UAC during install. If you think this to be the likely cause, i´ll do a fresh install. And please, could you me point me to where the info about error logs etc. is posted, that would be nice. Thank you.

First of all, a few questions:

Is it one specific battle that will crash the game or do you have random CTDs that are not reproducible ?

When do those CTDs occur ? At the loading screen before entering the battle map, after that or while the battle is in progress ?

You can find the error log of the game in the mod folder (non steam version):

    ...../Program Files (x86)/SEGA/Medieval II Total War/mods/SS6.3/system.log.txt

But in case of random crashes it will not tell you the cause, just that a crash occurred.

The crash occures at the battle loading screen. It always happens. In any battle i try to fight manually.

    I forgot about this one:

Did you apply the "G5 Emergency Battle CTD Fix" that comes with the Bugfix compilation ? The error message is related to the script used by this fix, try to "deinstall" it and remove all related files. Otherwise do a clean installation and do not check this option, as it could make things worse.

Yes. I did a fresh install of the complete mod, with UAC disabled, but the patch installation goes wrong. All the new setup options dont show up, but it says 6.4.

I've been playing SS6.4 with and without bug-fix compilation (and do install it - it does sort out a lot of issues.)
Never had a problem with a CTD on entering a battle.
    Which suggests an installation error.
Did you run the setup file in the SS6.3 folder after you installed the bug-fix compilation ?
CTDs on entering battles can be caused by the program not finding files associated with units.
If it's with many factions it is almost certainly an install issue.

Check in the SS6.3 folder and see if there files / folders that look out of place.
