Didn't see this in the bug post, if it is there sorry for the useless topic.
In my current game as the Danes, I've never had the faction announcements scroll come up. I've gained command stars, gained traits, gained retinue members, and had offspring, apparently none of which caused the "faction announcements" window to appear. So there is no way of knowing ANYTHING that happens to anyone in my faction without discovering it myself.
I just used the notepad cheat to unlock all factions as well as the descr_strat fix to adjust the time ratio to 1.00 and to display the date instead of turns before starting the campaign, so it could be tied to that. However, I believe that in my game as the English (before I used any fixes) they stopped appearing around turn 30 as well.
Anyone else notice this, either on a default game unlocked legitimately or using the unlock/date change fixes?
It seems that new children and retinue members show up, but not traits with the sole exception of a new king. For instance, my king died but the faction announcements didn't display the faction heir, as in vanilla. Also, all the traits they gathered while I kept mashing end turn 50 times didn't show up ("faction heir" status being one such trait that didn't display itself in the announcement window), only new retinue members and kids.
So, it seems that changing the time ratio, or changing the turn display to date crosses a few wires with something, resulting in traits not being displayed in the window.
Edit: upon more thorough testing, it seems only sometimes do retinue members appear, i.e. sometimes a biographer or adulteress triggered a faction announcement, sometimes not, and it seems as if pagan magicians and tax farmers never trigger it, and neither do new traits.
Tested on default settings, and on 1.0 and 0.50 with dates displayed as turns, as well as with dates displayed as dates. Happens on all permutations.
Am I really the only one who this is happening to?
