Yeah, well TW never has had an ending to talk about. Well, apart from Shogun I guess.
Very true, since Shogun nothing to write home about.
What is shocking is the length and quality of the Norman invasion video, as part of the prologue/tutorial. Something similar woulda been nice for faction endings, but meh, if you haven't seen enough carnage by the time you get to an ending whats the point anyway.

I would've liked better intro videos. I haven't seen the end yet though.
Cheapest ending ever?
no, pac man and pong had them
but compared to Shogun ...yes
You ask for steak, I bring you fish. You say that you think steak is better than fish. I say that fish is much more popular than steak so obviously it's better. You say that no matter how good the fish is it can't be better at being steak than the actual steak we used to serve. I say that's just your perception and you're entitled to it but you should accept that fish is the future and that's good. You begin to say something but I stab you in the eye with a fork and run into the kitchen.
i wish we could get some overall stats and other goodies at the end. Who did what, men lost, killed, yadda yadda. Or maybe a replay of the campaign zoomed out with no fog of war and in fast forward mode to see a quick repay of the campaign. I dont know, give us something CA!

Indeed. I think one of the things highest on my wishlist since Shogun would be if when you finished a campaign, you saw a simple screen *similar to one following a battle in most RTS games like Warcraft or Dawn of War if not as comprehensive as in Victoria or Hearts of Iron* displaying the total number of troops you trained (be nice to see 400,000 or some such wouldn't it?) as well as the number of men you lost in battle and the number of men you killed. It would be so easy to implement its ridiculous they don't. They wouldn't need any faction endings then, just a list of the hundreds of thousands of dead bodies that paved the way for you.

Man, are you kidding? And that great death animation for pac man, when his eyes go X and he kinda falls in on himself and goes "whoop whoop whoop". Masterpiece. CA should have incorporated the pac man death animation into MTW2, its that good.
Anyhoo, I haven't seen the ending vids yet, since I refuse to reinstall until the holy grail *ahem* the patch comes out. But finally we have the great Norman intro, plus in game event movies. Each faction intro is cheap-arsed, though; no matter which faction the monk is babbling on about, it always shows those byzantine troops chopping things up. Better than nothing, I guess...Long live the pac man!!!![]()

I dont think the tw games need a good ending, playing the game is the experience, there is not really something of a story to tie it up with a great fmv at the end.
I dont start a new game with the pure intention of completing and taking over the map, you think of the short term goals needed to further your empire, which then branch off. There is a point when you know your going to win anyway, so im not really fussed about a crap ending.
Kye.
I agree… it would be awesome to have a CIV like ending with the campaign history timeline plotted in a simple 2d map… it’s so easy to implement this and they haven’t done anything since Shogun… If at least we had the option to record log files with casualty/battle numbers we could do it ourselves but no option at all ;-(
This is true, however, coming from someone who's last game was Europa Universalis 2, the ending comes pleasantly. Trust me, you haven't seen a displeasing ending until you've played that game. It's just so dissappointing.
That said, I also cast my vote for a Civ4 style ending.
I would like to see a feature where you are ranked in a leader board a la Civ 4 which is the best bit about Civ IMO (I dont like the new Civ much - too board-gamey not enough atmosphere). I would also like to see a summary screen when you end/complete a game showing how you ranked with other factions. But as for the ending sequence I am not too bothered about it I will very rarely if ever actually see it.
Some kind of ranking/scoring system at the end for each faction would give a little more satisfaction, some facts and figures would be good too.
It would give you others things to aim for in successive games rather than just I won/lost, and it wouldn't be that hard to add.
An AOE-style stats/graph screen would be decent, showing major battles, kills, losses, generals etc
True.. stats woulda been great. It sucks I have to type all my wins and losses in excel just to see my kill count. So far I have killed 50 thousand people and spared 0. lol
I would rather have unique faction introduction videos than a better ending video. I was awfully disappointed when I started a different faction and discovered, Hey! That's the same video!![]()
Still I rarely finish a campaign since once I am in the definate win territory I restart and try something different.
I think it would be nice if the background at the menu would change, something cool of the faction you won with could be added each time. that way you could keep track of which factions you finished the games with and which not and might drive you to finish the game with all factions.
