Default So different from STW, etc.

I never really played RTW online, well I did for one battle and hated it. It lacked something.

Aside from the fact that battles seem really pathetic playing on the Normal unit scale I really can't give merit to M2TW Multiplayer. It lags quite a bit, the lobby doesn't display pings (for me anyway) so I end up joining uber laggy games. The unit cohesion and cavalry issues just make it all ******ing annoying to play with (excuse my French). To me it all seems so rubbish, just can't get that MP feeling back from the days of Medieval and Shogun (especially).

I play as the English and just finished a game where I was the attacker with some other guy and we had to attack a rather steep hill in the desert. The defender(s) had conveniently plopped themselves on the peak of the hill with a 180 Degree arc of pikemen, musks at the fore and a large amount of cavalry behind. The other defender used Cavalry Archers and Heavy Cavalry as harrasment. I decide there is no other way out of this and try and flank the guy on the hill, fat lot of good that did, his musks are destroying everything I have. So eventually I reach the top of the hill and get a load of Armoured Swordsman over the flank of the pikemen. My gallant horde (all of 100 men - Normal unit size = sucks) attack the pikemen (about 60) in the flank and do practically nothing. The cavalry is unleashed and my already withered army turns into nothingness. As for the other guy, he was more or less finished aswell, he had pikemen though which produced some fight.

Any tips for playing as the English in the desert or trying to bring down Cav archers who never seem to fatigue? Or is anyone else disappointed with the MP?

The ultimate anti-C.A. is a long-range bowman. Longbowmen, some crossbowmen, Desert Archers, etc. as long as they have 'long range' attribute so that they can hit the cav archers from afar.

Javelin Cavalry seem to work very well also, since they only need to get sort-of close, and the few barrages they unleash are very powerful and demoralizing (Jinetes and the like)...
