Has anyone here tried Egypt yet? I am planning on starting a Hard campaign with them. Anyone have any experiences they want to share? Tips? Thanks.

I bet egypt and turks are funny till mongols comes. The mongols are in Zagreb in my game now![]()
I'm around 50 turns in my Egypt campaign, I enjoy them very much in the custom battles too. Cool unit roster.
i have read that the mongols leave the holyland and north africa alone, leaving the egyptians out of harms way, unless of course you have captured turkish lands.
cuah,
did u go after the holy land right away or head west towards the moors?
Moors are too far & any conflict with them is not the best use of time. I went straight for holy lands & some of the rebel settlements S & E. Eventually i got around to sending a small army by ship to take tripoli but thats just to serve as a buffer & hold moors from advancing on my main cities. Im at war with turks & they can b a nuisance with all those horse archersPlan is to destroy the turks then swing W towards Byzantines im definitely not going North into mongol territory. Well atleast when patch comes out that is, cavalry & passive ai have kinda spoiled things for me so ive put things on hold till the patch release. The game is very playable just without any challenge even on VH.
Egypt is an economic superpower too, I am just raking in the cash like mad. I have Jerusalem up to Antioch and I grabbed Cyprus from the Byzantines. Not to mention Alexandria and Cairo generate craploads of cash.
You can support damn large armies.
I'm doing the Turks on purpose just to get the Mongol invasion, and get a crusade on my ass.

I'm playing Egypt and 45 turns in I have 45000 florins, though a French crusade is besieging Jerusalem right now.
Playing on VH/VH
As a teenager, I was taken to various houses and flats above takeaways in the north of England, to be beaten, tortured and raped over 100 times. I was called a “white slag” and “white ****” as they beat me.

I played >100 turned as the egyptians. Quite easy to expand and I had a good alliance with the turks. Had a crusade launched, took two stacks out with hit'n run tactics with HA's. There is some awesome terrain, one battle was a valley, had my general camped at one end, the HAs on each side and rained arrows down on the crusader army. Always feels cheap using HA's though. My campaign was reasonably quiet, just the 3 crusader armies.
i did something really strange with the turks. disbanded everything and harvested taxes for a couple of turns, then set sail and took all the italian islands. ive got this interesting island turk campaign going now
i was intrigued bu the moors, turks and egyptians, however being used to moving around in europe has spoiled me. the african provinces and all of the middle east and asia aside from the jerusalem area is an absolute nightmare to travel across, i cant be bothered to waste a dozen years of my general's lives just to cross a province.
oh, forgot to say that i let my original turkish cities just go to the rebels. with the island cities, i focused on growth while i was still relatively unmolested by the mainlanders, and then could venture to the mainland to raid where i chose.
Egypt seems to be lacking in heavy infantry, to the best of my knowledge.
That's the main reason I haven't tried them, but as Cuahchicquech said, I guess it's so that they can have large armies of less than quality infantry and good cavalry.
Lacking Heavy Infantry? I think not!
Tabardariyya & Hashashim do fine.

Hashashim are heavy? They are 60 man on huge, hardly enough to fill a battle-line, although the 2 hp probably helps. The axemen have less defense than a saracen milita! -great- attack though.
There's nothing wrong with the egyptian infantry. It's not like you'll run up vs armies entirely compared of dismounted knights. Saracen militia and kurdsmen are good general troops.
Mongols kicked my ass. Should have bought those ballista towers.. "it's more realistic if I shrug off the Mongol threat, preparing for its scope would be cheating".. *sob*
If you want to beat them, you'll need to do so defensively with a fat load of archers and spearmen. And you need RTW wall fighting skills, like the trick of sallying after their first battering ram is built, so that they hogpile at the gate.
I like the moors more because of the shooting camels!
And the hashishin should be archers not infantry. They should cost a hell of allot to.
Batavorum miliaria.
