Default Most playable faction so far?

Huge EB fan here, but I've discovered that all of the factions I've tried have a few small bugs that make the game unplayable for me. For both Pergamon and Pontus, I'm unable to get much beyond turn 100, as the game locks after I've ended the turn, and won't go on from there. Playing as Rome doesn't seem to have these issues, but there I run into the problem of being unable to develop my cities much, due to the fact I'm seemingly not able to build any colony buildings.

My question therefore to ask: which faction(s) currently have the least bugs and are best for a smooth playing experience?

Really not trying to knock the hard work of the EB team, who I know have put masses of effort in. I do appreciate that the mod is still in development!

You should try waiting them out. It's caused by a faction becoming a horde and the game eventually will succesfully proceed from there.

I was going to say the same thing. Wait out the long turns. It's not crashing, it's a faction going into horde. Sometimes takes 15 minutes on my machine...

Thanks guys: my own stupid fault!

I'm now back in business, though somewhat struggling in the campaign. As Pontus, I've conquered all of northern and central Anatolia, but am now hemmed in by Pergamon and Armenia, both of whom are more powerful than I am, and I'm reluctant to declare war on either lest the other attack! My cities are still all too small for me to be able to affordably maintain large armies: any thoughts?

I was able to have a brilliant campaign with Macadonia leading the great descendants of 'ol One Eye! They grew plenty well with plenty of availability for bigger metropolisis round greece and plenty of foreign colonies pretty much anywhere you try to conquer. But yeah, the game normally will seemingly crash around turn 80 or so. It varies, its caused as mentioned above by a faction, likely Numidia, being destroyed and hording out to try and conquer some new turf. just wait like 25 min when it happens, things will work again.

Start buttering one of them up with a regular tribute (doesn't have to be large) and prepare for war with the other. The CAI actually pays attention to relations, people you are on good terms with won't tend to attack you for no reason.

I'd say focus on Hayastan - their roster is much weaker and they can't bring phalanxes to the party.

I've ended up emptying my treasury to buy up provinces from bankrupt neighbours: Nikaia, Ipsos, and Side each cost me in the region of 25,000 mnai each, but are contributing quite merrily to my finances, and allowing me to pay tribute to Pergamon, the Seleucids, and Armenia while I build up. I'm still finding construction difficult though, with even Amaseia, as a large city, unable to build more advanced roads, ports, or markets. I assume that this is something to do with the sort of administration I have: will there be a RTW style building browser coming out with the autumn release? I'm also seeing no options for any sort of colonist.

I'd have to check, but I think the higher forms of Pontic government are linked to their reform. And thus the more advanced buildings are locked out until you achieve that.

Pontos uses the Hellenistic colonisation; in order to have colonists, you need either a Metropolis (Pergamon is your nearest, then Ephesos), or three polis_two's (Sinope and Halikarnassos are near, others further away unless the AI has been upgrading).

Search here for Pontos, basically you have to expand across the black sea and fight against the Hellenistic factions (Except the ones from Hellas. Not KH, Makedonia or Epeiros) to upgrade to higher governments.

    Good luck
