Tips required on playing AS mongols
Hey folks,
So I've decided to try out playing as the mongols for a change, and it is not as easy as one might think.
Yes they have a mighty army right from the start which you can use to devastate the first few settlements of the kwarezmians, but after that, because your army upkeep is so high, your economy will skydive to below 0 by turn 4 and you can't build anything.
Since I'm playing with BGR IV script on, the generals are very likely to rebel if you leave them out on open field. Even my faction heir (who is a war council member) rebelled when I left him out in the field. You can build forts and leave generals in forts to prevent rebellion, but since you are broke, you can't even build forts. And since your deficit is in the region of five or six digits, bringing down a few of my own buildings for quick cash is out of the question.
So basically the only general I can use to continue the war is the faction leader (Genghis Khan) - all other generals must stay in settlements / forts lest they rebel.
Moreover, in BGR IV the faction leader (Genghis Khan) has the trait Order: Campaign of Terror which means you are obliged to exterminate all settlements - adding to the miserable economy since the settlements you conquer is reduced to rubble.
And in turn 4 you have 4 more full stacks arriving from outside the map!! Which doubles your army upkeep
At the moment what I can think of is to dissolve all of my might army except 1 stack, which I need to continue the war with the kwarezmians. If I dissolve most of my army, my army upkeep will become low, and I can eventually conquer enough settlements to allow me to build up my army again.
Orrr another thing I can do is to just disregard the deficit and keep storming the map with my mighty golden horde. But as I said before, the generals are very likely to rebel so I dont even know how I can do that.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Well - you get more full army stacks than those 8. a lot more. Ok, BGR is not the ideal mod for playing with the mongols, but it is possible (although i never played to the end):
- strange that your generals rebel. i had no problem with rebelling generals, since everyone get to conquer and exterminate an settlement. much dread, much personal wealth.
- go on, dont stop with the kwarezmians. go for jerusalem or constantinople. if you are there, then you can disband armys and build up an economy.
- or, you can try to go even further - what about vienna? or rome? you are playing as one of the deadliest forces of the middle ages :-)

I think it's the BGR IV script that makes it likely for the generals to rebel. Especially the faction heir Jebe or something.. even though he is the heir and war council member he will still rebel as soon as i leave him in open field. Not sure why.

BGR is not fleshed out and flexible enough, I would simply restart the campaign without it when playing as the Mongols.

As mentioned before, simply restart the campaign. Then disband all but 2-3 of your stacks for a challenging campaign
