Default A huge pleede to the mod creators!

I was heart broken when i saw that Rome II didnt have a good standard bearer. And no i don't like the bearer in the middle of the unit that holds some lame stick with a bit of bronze on it. That doesnt make it a good standard. What i wanna see as standard bearers, are the old Rome I bearers, where they would carry a small flag to represent their country-nation into battle. (Something like the flag bearers in the roman legions) I beg you, bring back that little thing, and the unit look, feel, will be beyond comparison. And i can assure you that im not the only one!!! Anyway keep up the great work that you are doing!

A bit change of topic but... Is it possible for the unit banners to be modded back in the Attila engine? I wasn't referring to flag bearers though, but instead the actual banners that floats above the units?

There was another problem with Rome 2 though. CA developers were very lazy with those standard bearers and didn't create animations for them. The standards were held in right hand alongside shields, and weren't even considered standards by the game, so the game determined them to be spears.

The result was that standard bearers used their standards to fight. And they incorrectly held it like spears even when not fighting, so they pointed them towards the enemy like common spears or pikes when they brace.

Where in the world do you ever see a man in the Roman First Cohort using his golden eagle like a useless spear, banging it against shields? Or a Persian ring standard being used as a weapon? The standard bearers would've been flogged and executed if they disrespected the standards in this fashion in reality!

As little I as I have played Attila, I am not sure if this was ever fixed. So even if you can mod in the awesome RTW style banners somehow, the soldiers holding them will use them to fight and kill enemies instead of using swords.

That would look very awkward - killing men with a piece of cloth or a pretty statue on a stick.

Something I am completely annoyed with as well.

We'll sure be looking into that. There's an abundance of animations, though most of them have a very defined purpose. I think ETW sort of had this type of animation for pikemen, not in the sense that they were holding a pike or banner in the left hand, but they'd be fencing only using the right. Maybe banner carriers had it right? There might be something similar hidden in the files for Rome 2/Attila. Otherwise, there's the possibility of making our own, but needless to say this is far down on the priority list, not the least when considering the effort it requires. If that happens, there's a good chance musicians will be implemented with correct animations as well (wheter they can actually play or make sounds depends on what tools we'll see in the future, if any).

Please don't remove the signi (bronze stick). The Romans carried signi in battle, so please don't replace them.

We're not removing those, I think, but there are ideas about suspending a small banner from them.

We could always have two standard bearers which we can do in Attila now.

I can fix those animations too. How about using it like an axe?

I think ideally the standard bearer wouldn't use it as a weapon at all.
