Workaround for Random CTD during AI turns in SS6.4+Bugfix
Hello,
If you're like me, you've been chugging away in a SS campaign, only to have it come to a screeching halt because of some random CTD that seems to keep occurring during a certain AI factions turn. You check the logs, and there's nothing there outside of the very generic:
[system.rpt] [error] Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit.
You try moving agents and armies around via commands and nothing works. Sometimes it crashes on a totally different faction after you spend 30 minutes moving 30 characters around. 170 turns into my campaign and I became stuck just like this. I was unable to find a surefire fix or workaround until I tried the following:
1) open the console with ~
2) run the command "disable_ai"
3) run the command "toggle_fow" to reveal the full map.
4) End the turn as you usually would.
5) It should now completely finish the AI turn. The AI still seems to play as it normally would, from what I watch, but just to be safe run the command "run_ai" once the turn is over.
6) save the game, just in case.
I'm not sure exactly why this allows turns which normally end in CTDs to complete as they should, but I honestly just want to continue my campaigns.
Hopefully this will help some of you who have these random CTDs during turns.
*NOTE* I am running 6.4 with the bugfix compilation and no other sub mods.
