    Default Tierra Santa: Total War

    By Werety y Miguel80tp
    UPDATED in 2022

This mod is based in the Holy Land and the different conflicts between the years 1050 -1330, mod add new events, units, buildings, ancillaries, and some scripted events. i create a Building System related by Resources,
New buildings added for each faction and each resource in the map have now their own building tree and special bonuses, like special troops to recruit, (Crusader Camps and Bedouin Camps) or special Ancillaries to add to Generals and Family Members. Each region have their own resources and is unique in the buildings who can be constructed, that create rich regions with a lot of resources and poor regions with a poor economic options or slow development, this system is created to make more strategical regions and cities to conquer and domain.

The mod add 5 new custom campaigns of the different historical events of the Holy Land.
These campaigns be the focus of the mod, not the grand campaign (in the Beta version), this change of design of the mod dont cause any lost of created content and dont affect the units, buildings, traits, ancillaries, UI and other stuff created in the begining of the creation of TSTW.
These campaigns make more playable with the different factions and player can enjoy more their content and playability.

    The new custom campaigns are:

    Campaign 1 - The Seljuk Expansion (1050 to 1090)
This campaign is focused in the expansion of the Seljuks in the holy land and the war between the shia Fatimid Caliphate and the sunni Abbasi Caliphate, all with the Byzantine Empire in their maximum level of power.

    Campaign 2 - The Crusader States (1110-1170)
This campaign is focused in the Crusader States of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, County of Tripoli, County of Edessa and Principality of Antioch and their expanse for the Levantine region and fights with the differents muslim factions.

Campaign 3 - The Rise of Saladin (1175 to 1200)
This campaign is focused in the armies of the Ayyubid Caliphate and the rise of the power of Saladin who have the objective to fight with the Crusader States and other muslim factions forthe hegemony.

    Campaign 4 - The fall of the Byzantine Empire (1205 - 1250)
This campaign is focused in the Byzantine factions in hard civil war after the fall of Constantinople by the crusaders and the creation of the Latin Kingdom, with the Mongol Invasion traveling to holy land.

    Campaign 5 - The Mongol-Mamluk Wars (1250-1330)
This campaign is focused in the Persian Ilkhanate and the lose of power against the Sultanate Mamluks and religious inner fights, the last Crusader States try to survive in all this great conflict.

    The Main Campaign
The Main Campaign is based in the Holy Land from 1143-1300 (2 turns per year)

With many historical events, starts with the Fall of Edessa and the Crusades, the Ayyubid dynasty of Saladin, the Mongolian invasion, the arrival of the Ilkhans, the fall of the Byzantine Empire and their kingdom division, the Rise of the Mamluks, and many other interesting events, this mod wants to represent the different historical events and situations who changed the path of history in the Holy Land.

The mod is done in the most accurate way possible, and although it has taken the historical accuracy (maps, factions, buildings, scripts, events ... etc) have left some gaps as well as limitations to make por playable and living random situations for the player

    IMPORTANT NOTE:
This mod have a long development of 12 years, basically it is made by only 2 modders, the mod is finished by me in a playable Beta, the main campaign have some problems and I don`t recommend play this, the custom campaigns have better realization and better finished look, take all of this in consideration when comment or post and respect the job realized for other people of the community.

    ABOUT THE BUGS:
The mod is in a Beta status, some texts and images can have problems, crashes and bugs can appear easily, remember this is a mod of a game of 2006 with old engine and memory use, try to report the maximum bugs to improve the mod, progress can be slow but I take note of the reports and I post a bugfix when have the time necessary to do.
For the bug reports, go here: https://www.twcenter.net/forums/show...-Techinal-Help

PD: This mod born in February 2010 in a secretly status with irregular activity and a slow learning progress of all the members of the team, the proof are the first previews that only the most veteran players remember:

    http://hermandadeltemple.foroactivo....anta-total-war
.... with only 2 people (emphasize how important this is) working on for a long time, this mod is progressing slowly but strongly, seen recent progress, the team decided show a preview.
Patience and understanding are requested by the altruistic work of 2 people who have worked very hard to come to light this mod, hope you like when is finished.

Excellent Werety! Although I think the hardest part of the mod will be to translate into English so descriptions and buildings you've created, hehehe!

Yes, possibly the most difficult part of the mod, the damned text files hahaha

Great idea! We also have Broken Crescent (which hopefully will have its 2.4 version released more or less soon), but this is a different chronology and with different factions; and the more mods about the Crusades' period we have, the merrier, hehe! I'm very weak at scripting (but with Miguel80 on board, good things are to be expected), but if you want I may help you with the boring tasks concerning text editing in my spare time. My Spanish may be perhaps a bit rusty but it's usually quite good, and the English is better, so no problems in translating texts, in principle.

    Thanks Dragon78!

Maybe in the future, we need to translate the text file, for the moment, all scripts is missing, (0% WIP) when the mod is complete, there will be translation, for the moment, I polish many aspects of the mod; text files, EDU, EDB, etc

Thanks for you offer, I remain in contact

Why did you choose 1143 as the startdate though?

I would rather advise 1173 as the startdate as in that same year both Baldwin IV and Saladin started their reign.
You can always have the County of Edessa as a re-emergent faction.

I would also advise multiple turns per year because of the smaller geographical scale of your scenario.
It would be a bit strange for an army to travel 10 years from Egypt to Turkey

1143 was when Baldwin III came to the throne and the kingdom of Jerusalem had reached its greatest territorial extent under Fulk. This period also saw instability amongst the crusader states due to the ruling dynasty of Jerusalem. Things were also bad with the Zengi breathing down the crusaders necks, so this period was far from uninteresting.

Yeah, but that scenario does not have Saladin and a 16 year old leper boy-king...

Meh, the leper king and Saladin are interesting but have been done to death. This period is far more interesting, especially with the civil wars

Yeah, just like I said: for Baldwin IV, Saladin, and the 3rd Crusade, you find them for example in Broken Crescent or in the vanilla Kingdoms' Crusades campaign.
This is another period (and a fascinating one too: Zengi, the call of the 2nd Crusade, the end of the shiite Fatimid caliphate and the rise of the Ayubbids, the Komnenian "restoration" in Byzantium - with byzantine overlordship over Antioch and a brief alliance with all crusader states - and so on, and so on...)

Alright, but I still advise for multiple turns per year to be set, perhaps even as much as 6 turns per year.

The functional script for it already exists.

I think 8 turns per year would be good, then you have 2 in each season.

Also, have you considered contacting Neadal?

    He is already putting some work done in a mod that is basically identical;

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forum...mine-Dei-(IND)

Surely it would be better if multiple modders worked on a single mod if possible.

I think Neadal could probably use the help too, last update I saw from him he said that he is taking a break from modding to focus more on school for awhile.

This looks very promising. Actually I like the 1143 start date, as you mentioned there are already a lot of mods focusing on Saladin and the leper king and I've always wanted to play as Manuel I. and try to achieve the goals he never could. Hoping this gets released soon!

This mod not based in Saladin, is based in the Crusades and many factions.

We have not forgotten the most important events,...a lot of surprises is coming

The mod starts few years before the fall of Edessa, of 2nd crusade to the 9th crusade

We work many years in this mod, I don't "ally" with others modders for the moment, mod is more advanced than IND of Neadal.
