    I was a couple of turns into an Epirus campaign and I'd just started the battle for Pella, when my pike units' scaled the walls they kept their Sarissas' equipped which made combat, difficult, to say the least.

    It's not a bug, phalanx units have no secondary weapon. They were removed because they are bugged; any spear and secondary weapon combination results in the unit almost never using it's spear. So you don't have phalanxes, you have swordsmen.

    Will we ever have them? Couldn't you just reskin the Swiss Pike men in the game already and alter their stats?

    Doesn't work. Nothing works, pikemen with secondary weapons are broken in the M2TW engine. They are swordsmen who occasionally, and at the wrong times, remember they have pikes.

    Speaking of a phalanx bug, has anyone noticed that phalanx units will often turn their backs to the enemy after suffering 30% or 40% casualties? As soon as this happens, they become an easy target. It's particularly odd when two phalanx units are fighting each other and both units turn their backs to each other​. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this...? I think it only happens when the phalanx unit is in attack mode. If the unit is stopped and in guard mode + shield wall, I think it always retains its formation. But an attacking AI phalanx will never do this.

    Guard mode for phalanx doesn't stop it in my previous tests unfortunately.
