Default Protectores domestici and barbarian charge bonus

Why are they tier two? Are they supposed to be lower quality? They get butchered by barbarian infantry bodyguard units. I tried a battle against the Langobard
bod. unit and they butchered the protectores. Also, what's with the insane attack of barbarian units and that charge bonus that goes up to 60 for elite units?
It seems weird to see a barbarian medium unit cause 20 casualties on the charge against the best that the Roman army has to offer.

Why do you think protectores should have stronger stats than a langobard general? It's past the time when romans were supreme in discipline and equipment. Their armaments are similar, barbarians are brutal and langobard ones can even go berserk. I don't see why romans should exceed them in face-to-face combat. Domestici have other abilities that give them versatility - faster running, testudo and so on. But it doesn't mean that you must think them as the strongest unit.

Actually, they were still supreme in both. The loss of quality is a myth but I am not complaining because they lose but because they lose BADLY. The langobard general unit is cheap and not even heavy and it slaughters the protectores. No matter how ''brutal'' it is not realistic at all to have medium units causing 20 casualties against heavy quality units on the charge. The barbarian charge bonus is just too high.

Yeah it's definitely not supposed to be like that. We're still in very early stages of our whole battle balancing etc. Honestly, it's probably the part of the mod that will take the longest time to perfect out of everything. But all these reports are helpful and help show us what we need to look at.
