How to get the right units in custom battles

I'm really sorry if this has been posted before, or this was addressed in the FAQ or another thread, but how do I play custom battles with EB2 ? I remember EB1 had a "trivial script" that let you choose whether you want to play Multiplayer or Singleplayer, and if you chose Multiplayer you could play Custom Battles with the correct units for each faction. Right now, if I choose Romani as faction, I can get Sacred Band soldiers and other irrevelant things, but NO legionaries or Hastati or Principes.

I would be happy if someone explained me how I can play Custom Battles with the correct units.

Under 'Period' (bottom right hand option) in the custom battle setup menu before you choose your units, select 'early'. This is the default option.
