Default i love it, yet i want to kill it...

    Greetings all.

    System=amd 3800x2, 2GB ram, 7900GT, directx 9c, creative x-fi, latest drivers on grafix/sound/windows etc.

I think it must be a facet of the game in that i love it so much, when it lets me down i want to kill it--with a rusty spoon and biting!!
So well done CA for causing this paradox, keep it up as i love the frusration. Seriously though, I have all your games and expansion packs, so keep up the good work.

However, much as i can get round the other bugs and AI problems (cavalry charges or enemy armies that just stand there...:hmmm: ), this new bug makes the game unplayable, in that i do not want to relinquish control of Baghdad(oh the irony), which crashes every time i despatch my elephants out to kill the beseiging mongols.

Essentially i line up my archers, pikeman, open the gates , out go the elephants and wallop, black screen, pc freezes/locks back to desktop.
All other areas appear fine...i`ve checked the M" log generated and there seems to be an awful lot of stuff "missing"--does this cause the problem?

I can`t find any reference to this other than the bug report in the forum, so assume you already knew about this as well as other crashes.

I look forward to the fix, or advice on how to bypass this litttle problem (other than relinquish my city!!), and hosing my life away hiding in my room playing your "just one more turn" game.

ROFL..sorry the way you posted all of that I could actually feel the frustration seeping through the monitor.
Have you tried deploying your troops in different areas...not sending your elephants out the gate? or maybe open a different gate? Does it only crash when the elephants run through the opening of the gates?
Need some more detail..although you got the detail down with the rusty spoon and biting..LOL too funny

    TWM2 Analogy time:
You finally get to do the deed with the girl you`ve lusted after for so long, only to find shes got a dirty little secret; shes sporting a bratwurst you`ve only noticed too late!

I mean elephants with frickin' cannons for heavens sake! Thats right up there with sharks with frickin' lazers! All we need now are pillbox tortoises and animal death dealing will be complete...

Anyhoo, tried various permutations on the CTD because of hefalumps and it transpires that no matter what i do, as soon as one of them commences fire then it CTD, so by all means have elephants, you just have to keep them locked up as nature intended....

oh and baghdad is safe; i got lots of priests in there and lots of militia

.....Talking of Elephants with cannon, I noticed last night whilst playing that the Timourids(SP!), their Elephants managed to wipe ot half my army (M/M) and all my artillery, save for one Trebuchet out of four within a few minutes - must have pin point accuracy, as none of my artillery managed to score one hot on the Elephants, even with half a dozen units trained on them! If there was one empty space a foot square in-between the enemy, I could be rest assured that's exactly where my missiles would end up! lol

Could there be any connection with the problem reported in this thread ?

    NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh fudge, that's really torn it.

After much stomping, dying and "just one more turn" efforts all this week, forsaking all else, it`s absolutely and definately time to wait for the patch, because...

The timurids are laying siege to my city, and i had all my hard troops/cannons/rifles etc all lined up nicely ready to repel those "elephants with frickin' cannons"---i rubbed my hands with glee, got my tea and biscuits ready for the mother of all battles, then what happened..........

Yep, soon as ruddy elephants open up, crash bang wallop, a CTD

Now because they are laying seige, it will crash everytime, unless i do diplomacy on their ass, but i was so looking forward to that battle that i just don`t wanna!!!!!

Oh CA, if i could make love to this game i would, but at that very moment all i wanted to do was smother the ***** with a pillow..............

Still, guess it means i now have no excuse not to get on with the chores.

Even typing this has given me withdrawel symptoms, so i think i`ll go back and see if i can`t kiss and make up with the timurids..........

This game is right up there with Elite and Civilisation2 for sucking my life away
